She knows Iowa needs to move on from the twins and she wants to but the issue is the new coach has to be a clear upgrade. Until it's obvious this program is held hostage by an awful product. Stuck in the mud, no idea what back points are. Heavy hands to a high crotch and pray its clean because scrambling is only for eggs, not wrestling. No ability to wrestle in a phone booth, half the team shoots from the next county like Morningstar did.

The Brands Bros are good men and there is nobody else I would be more confident and trusting of my kids if they had the ability to go there. They have the best results in college in total over the past 20 years not named Sanderson.

The problem is that for Iowa’s standards that isn’t good enough. They were at the helm when they allowed Penn state to turn into the juggernaut it is.

Their recruiting has been terrible for the most storied program since the 70s. Their athletes regress and are oft injured by their senior years (even the good ones - metcalf, McDonough, Lee, Kemmerer, marianelli, Ramos, etc.

The product they have been churning out on the mat has been terrible for the past several years. Generally speaking the hawks don’t look to score from all positions, are awful on top and get ridden like mules. I can stomach not winning as long as they go out and look to score and make attempts but man is it hard to watch. I am now at the point where I think a change is needed to re-energize the program. The problem is the guy they should have gotten (Taylor) was scooped up while Iowa admin sat on their hands which is akin to Iowa poaching Gable from IA State.

The past few years felt like the last years of Zalesky and he was given a much shorter leash.

The product has not been enjoyable for some time. When is the last time an Iowa wrestler pinned a highly ranked opponent? Where is the consistency? Why can we count on a crash out at Nationals as opposed to overachieving? Why is recruiting so poor? Why are takedowns, scrambling and scoring from all positions non-existent?

I think brands could have solved this problem with some tough decisions couple years ago. Upgrading upper weight coaches. No brainer. Not a lack of loyalty just time for those guys to go start HC at lower level for themselves.

We all have opinions and ours are different. Issue is most have no clue what happens behind the scenes and what it takes to run a D1 program. Look at DT he has a former D1 HC on his staff I wonder why. Because he was lost in year one. The names people bring up are hilarious which shows that they have no clue.

And as reported on this fire, Iowa’s AD is prepared to put $1-2M of the $20M rev share towards wrestling.

…no. Schwab is just fine where he is. Let’s also just get it out of the way - Spencer Lee has not shown the ability in any way to be a head coach of a program, let alone Iowa. A good athlete does not equate to a good or great coach. No reason the next HC needs to be an Iowa alum either. Askren is interesting but he spent the last number of years badmouthing not just the Iowa program, but the athletes in it. We really missed the boat on Taylor.

Todays stall calls were mostly trash especially that final stall call on Kennedy, it should have never been called even an isu fan sitting next me said that. Pk won that match but whatever it wouldn't have mattered in the end anyways. My point is I know how unaggressive we've been lately but today in most matches we took/ attempted more shots

It is without doubt the EPICENTER of USA wrestling and has been since FARMER BURNS, GOTCH(the beginning ) and right on TWOOO GABLE and 2025!!!! 10,000+ at the MATCH today on ESPN and in a SNOW STORM!!! NO where else in the country can this happen!!!

That being said, WHY does it seem, with ALL the HISTORY/FANS that we(IOWA) is fighting from behind!??!?!? Meaning, (and I will point to BASSETT once again) how are "other" teams able to do what they are doing, and we ALWAYS seem to have problems!?!?!?

How is it that GABLE does not have his own complete package of tickets, booth, etc...???? I mean does GABLE have to buy tickets to IOWA matches??? Saw him today at the meet does he have to buy tickets?????

ALL these years, ALL the tradition, ALL the fans, where is ALL the $$$$$, where is ALL the FU to ANYONE, getting in the way of WINNING!!!! and I am NOT saying go out and "pay the refs" but for the LOVE of GOD get to at least an even playing field!!!!!

Caliendo has. Buch did. Most of the rest have been pretty meh unless I'm missing someone. We've made some really puzzling decisions on portal acquisitions the last couple years which is also on the current staff.

I would add Lugo, Desanto and Eierman. Eierman obviously had the ACL his senior year but they got him to the finals the year before. Desanto went from R12 to high AA. Lugo made huge gains in my opinion.
