Great points. True detective season 1 is the best ever for me. Just amazing. What new content would you guys recommend? Have seen deadwood yet. Friend looked at me like I was insane, so starting it this weekend.
TV is about as good as it's ever been. Early/mid 2000's has it beat when The Wire, Mad Men, Deadwood, Breaking Bad, The Office, 30 Rock, and Parks & Rec were all on.

Succession, Billions, Better Call Saul, Curb, VEEP, Narcos, Homeland, etc are all on or have been in the last couple years. All incredible.

You could add Sopranos to the earlier list.

True Detective and GOT Got Narcos for streaming so Bloodline and Peaky Blinders

We've benefited greatly when TV and streaming deals got big enough to lure stars from doing films only. Still pumped for what's coming from the covid lull.

by new I meant content out that’s totally fresh. Most of the good stuff from before I watched at least three times during the pandemic. Saw game of thrones three times.

I'd have to think on the new new. Umbrella Academy, Terminalist, and the Boys all have current content.

One not many mention and its over now but Goliath is solid

I smoke too much pot to remember all the little things of BB and BCS. Not trying to hijack the thread. Love the insight of those of you that can remember what to piece together.

Glaring omission. My second favorite show of all time, behind The Wire.

Told my 17 year old I envied him because there are so many great shows he is just now finding out about and will get to watch over the next few years.

Pretty interesting storyline. I didn't think I'd mind the Jeff re-cast that much but the original Jeff sort of had a menacing, intimidating factor whereas the re-cast had a more goofy vibe. It was nice seeing Saul/Gene have one (apparent) last scheme to really dive into and have some fun, but ultimately putting that suit back on the rack and moving on.

Is that the last of the Gene world? Jeff is a wrap. I have no idea where the last three episodes are going to go other than we're seeing Walt and Jesse and I have to think we'll see Kim in some capacity again. That heel shot was such a quick tease at Kim.

Season 4 episode 5.

First real story line in the BB/BCS universe I can't get behind: no way would the Mesa Verde owner tolerate what Saul was doing, knowing it was Kim's boyfriend. That meeting at the golf course would have ended with Mesa Verde telling Kim to have Saul cease and desist or that they would find a new Lawyer. I also don't love this plot line where Kim is giving away such a big client because the "court room" law is more satisfactory. I can suspend disbelief, but story lines need to be somewhat plausible.. these don't seem to be (unless there's more to it coming up)..

Still loving the show, it's picking up steam. Gonna try and catch up to watch the final few episodes as they air. Love that BB characters are little by little being reintroduced. You can tell the timelines are starting to get into sight of each other.

Maybe they’ll tie it all together, but last night’s episode seemed like a throwaway. That is fine in early seasons, but a bit odd here in the final stretch.

Also, while the scheme was a fun flashback to Slippin Jimmy, stretching that one story line for an hour was a bit much. I’ve defended the slow burn for the entire series, but watching that dude eat Cinnabons to a long-winded montage even broke my patience.

So Walt knew Saul was in Nebraska, Omaha even, given the relocation process in the vacuum cleaner's basement. So did he track Saul down on his way back to New Mexico in the end and if so, for what? Will that be our Walter White cameo and reason for coming back to the show one more time?

Saul said something about having to manage a Cinnabon in Nebraska during a convo with Walt about the relocation thing.

Yeah, they could possibly pay it off, but with only three episodes left? We’ll see, I guess.

someone connected Walt to the guy that got him the M60 machine gun and car. Never really explains how Walt knew the guy. Saul was always the guy that knew a guy. I mean doesn't have to play out like that. But who knows.

I doubt that happened but you never know.

Really like the show, but I find it a little hard to recommend when there's probably 12 episodes like the Fly episode from BB. They're stretching this out like taffey.

The timeline is becoming more jumbled due to the time jumps but I think the last episode took place in like November 2010 based upon the Nebraska football talk and Walt died in about September 2010.

I had absolutely NO idea that Carol Burnett was still alive. I though it was just a random actress that sorta looked like her. At first, I actually thought it was Grandma Sarazen from Friday Night Lights. Holy crap!

I do dislike how the TV-MA rating always pops at the beginning… because last episode when it only had “L” underneath it, I knew there would be no action in the episode. Downright spoiler-y. Gimme all the LSV please.

Even so, I didn’t dislike it. I know some hate the tedium… but I like seeing the diligence, the precision, the repetition that went into his scheme. All for a single snatch and grab. It gives credence to his character’s ability to pull off the cons he does. I guess you can easily label it a filler since it didn’t significantly advance the plot, but I thought it was enriching.

The previous episode set the foundation for any interaction Gene has with Jeff and his friend from here on out. It was absolutely necessary to include it. The whole show has been more of a character study than BB was and the "filler" episodes make every decision the characters make make sense.
