Buckeye Approved...

Big Ten amends rule allowing Ohio State to play in conference title game

The conference announced Wednesday it has decided to change its rule requiring teams to play a minimum of six games to qualify for its Dec. 19 championship game.

"The decision was based on a competitive analysis which determined that Ohio State would have advanced" to the Big Ten Football Championship Game based on its undefeated record and head-to-head victory over Indiana regardless of a win or loss against Michigan.

So it doesn't matter that you meet the conference guideline. It's that if game was played it didn't matter the outcome.

The arbitrary "conference guideline" that was made up in October, and based upon nothing? The B1G made its first right decision since the pandemic started. Nobody with a football IQ North of 80 wanted to see one-loss Indiana, without its star quarterback, play Northwestern in the B1G Championship Game...especially not Fox. $$$$$

College football as a whole screwed up this year. Should have played the entire schedules as is.

You're spot on, Allen. The majority of the B1G Presidents and clueless Commissioner prematurely canceled the season, then stupidly decided to start the season in late-October, without including any bye weeks in the schedule. The Big 12 was much smarter, and that's why WVU is about to play in its tenth game on Saturday...fingers crossed.

People could probably live with it if they just tell the truth why their doing it. Name brand and that's it. Who's name brand sells better? Indiana football or Ohio State football.

To me this proves the CFP selection committee and process is a sham. It's why G5 schools will never make a 4 team playoff. Name brand. A 1 loss Texas A&M is better name brand than unbeaten Cincinnati.

Bring back the BCS formula.

Yeah, it would be "fair" to keep the conference's only undefeated team out of the B1G Championship Game, and elevate a team that the undefeated team beat over it to play in the title game. You have made the dumbest argument ever, so congrats for that. Oh, and the B1G just promulgated the stupid six-game rule two months ago, so the same morons who trumped up the dumb rule had every right to terminate it.

Too simple. It's not just about the "name brand"; it's also about the almighty dollar, too. The only B1G team that has a realistic chance to make the CFP and add big $$$ to the B1G's coffers this season is Ohio State.

Because people would rather see Ohio State vs Alabama and not Cincinnati vs Alabama or a 2 loss Iowa State vs Clemson.

In this case, I don't think it's about who sells better. I think it's more that the Big 10 doesn't want to send Indiana or Northwestern to get slaughtered by Alabama in the sugar bowl. Ohio st is the only team that stands a realistic chance.

Regarding the BCS formula, it was AP poll + Coaches' poll + composite computer polls. The AP and Coaches' have Ohio St top 4, as do most of the computer polls. The BCS formula would still give you the same teams.

Indiana or Northwestern would not sniff the playoffs. Texas A&M or Florida would be in over those 2. Guaranteed.

Gators eliminated last night, due to one of the biggest boneheaded penalties of all time. . .

The shoe toss penalty

It is called football after all.

I heard it was the biggest throw of the game.

I hear they're making a new movie out of the toss titled "The cleat, the kick and the game"

Texas A&M says thank you very much.
