You know what else wasn't ideal? The way our newest 2 transfer portal entrants wrestled. What a waste of talent and resources.
don't matter what the details are. bottom line is Iowa will get ~45 from 165-184. they aren't taking lower than 7th.
Those may be the only AA’s for Iowa this year.
This conversation has veered and might be better served in the crystal ball thread but screw it this is the cesspool for a reason. Gun to my head if I had to put a line on team standings finish I would say 6.5… so yes I think it’s unlikely they finish outside the top 10 but not outside the realm. I would put my money on finishing outside the top 6.

I put it at 13% chance of 6 and a 3% chance of 7 based on latest Flo rankings (that do not have Voinovich at 157 or Arnold at 197).
If VV is at 157, only further evidence Brands has lost it. Why have a guy wrestle the whole season, then pull him? Jordan Williams has the talent to make a run. There is no compairson to VV..

Well for starters,.williams hasnt wrestled the whole season.......
Here is a head scratcher.
Stony Buell is #24 in the latest CR, having a 13-8 record and just having lost to an 8-4 Voinovich, yet Voinovich did not make top 33 on the CR.
Did Iowa enter anyone into the CR? They have failed to do so before.
Give me a break, no one has. The way Tom jacks with this lineup. JW has wrestled a large majoirty of the big duals.
Bob is just eating money at this point. Cant be happy that Tom talked him into cutting checks for Mo & JW to not even be able to take them to the dance.
Again when you fail at recruiting and rely on the portal this hard- you get desperate and take chances on kids with character flaws you typically wouldn't have.
I refuse to say poor Brands, it all the kids fault. He paints himself into a lot of bad luck anymore.

This mean Williams probably done as a hawk? We payed him to help with points at NCAA’s and now he’s benched for VV, when he looked healthy against Okyst. Are TnT just done with his attitude?
What if one out of three was a national champion over the last two years? Would you say it was a failure?
Unless he is injured and cant compete, he most likely is gone, either his choice or team. If Estrada can get healthy, he must be penciled in for next year.
Not sure, but JW just seemed to have way more upside than VV to me. We will never know whether it was an injury or performance/attitude based as Tom will not answer questions about it I bet. This is the only B10 entry that surprised me. Kudos to Gabe for stepping up at 197 and never go down against good riders please! Nuetral will be Gabe's best chance to score.

Maybe they wrestled off and VV won, or JW got hurt again against Okie st. They have been both wrestling well, I would say JW had the most potential to score us points in march.
Bailey needs to let his hands heal up whether it's a procedure or just time, thumbs can be very difficult to deal with when injured and obviously affect your GRIP tremendously!
It is too bad that there isn’t a tournament close to the university where some hawks could get some additional matches. : )

Another weigh in and competition that close to B1G's absolutely can. Peaking isn't the same for everyone, but most guys that are short matches this late into the season have REASONS why. Trying to add one more qualifier spot to the weight pool, when it doesn't guarantee YOU anything, may not be worth it for most...
You think weighing in and wrestling one more weekend would have made the dual season worse?? Seems impossible.

Edit to add: I misunderstood, you guys are talking about the Soldier Salute, correct? I was assuming we were talking about the goofy thing Dresser had going. Is that even a thing this year?

Yes, you know - the Soldier Salute Tournament, the tournament started in part by the Hawkeyes. The same one that had minimal participation by the "host team".
