So glad we could miss the last period of the HWT match to watch the national anthem at the Women's bball tourney lol.
Block was more of an adrenaline dump than flat gassing. He went full out against simply a better wrestler and hit a wall.
There is a massive difference than just running out of gas wrestling your normal match. Think Kennedy when he lost to Gaitan. Hell, even Metcalf and Gable have talked about it when they lost their finals matches and we are talking about guys that basically NEVER gassed…
Simply put, the only way Block was winning that match was how he went full out for as long as he could and I respect the hell out of him for it and won’t knock him for only being able to do it for 6 minutes instead of 7…
Having Welsh in the air 2x but not finishing is still a positive. Gas tank will get better, the finish is totally fixable and should give Angelo confidence next time.
I’m not happy about it either but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we’re probably not missing much!!
Iowans really compared Ben and Spencer as recruits after high school. What an insult to Spencer.
I'm sure glad we pay for Big Ben to stand in a collar tie for 7 minutes.
Crazy that Angelo now has lost 3x in college, but is yet to give up a takedown.
I think Daton Fix had beaten Spencer, and he was #1. Spencer #2 and Diakomihalis #3. Pretty strong year - class of 2017.
Man I hope this proves true. We have seen it across too many wrestlers this year for me to have much hope.

I mean, his credentials were definitely up there. Not a lot of junior world champs in high school.
I don't care who they've rubbed wrong. Refs have a job to do, objectively and with integrity. If they can't, those SOBs are the ones that need to go.
Ben deserves just as much **** for his “effort” that the other wrestlers on the team get.
Want to know how you should know Iowa has fallen. When we start saying “we’re wrestling good because we only lost by this many points” or “we couldn’t get a td cause so and so’s defense is just that good” or “hey we’re wrestling way better than we did during the season when we lost 6 meets” or “he had an adrenaline dump” adrenaline dump in the f’n quarters???? Iowa guys are having adrenaline dumps in quarter final matches??? lol
NO doubt, but if you have the kid in the air, which he did TWOOOO times!!!! It is not easy but you basically BACK ARCH him while cutting off to the waist. NOT sure why you are burning energy lifting if you aren't going to attempt something!?!?!?!?

The problem is that we were seeded 7th. That’s not good!! Our wrestling standards have fallen off a cliff and you’re trying to make everything a positive.

Tell me you didn’t wrestle without saying you didn’t wrestle….and if you did wrestle, it surely wasn’t at a high level. Ask every damn wrestler that has about the difference. I sure as hell am not making it up.
Hell, you can do a quick Google and find Gable talking about it in depth and I am sure you wouldn’t have to look hard to see Metcalf talk about it as well…
Angelo definitely is. Ben K probably is. Peterson is a little better than the 8. But you get injured and don’t wrestle a lot, which happens all the time at Iowa, and it comes back to bite.
Im absolutely positive when Iowa doesn’t hit the quota he laid down for Iowa at nationals to meet his standard he will have a whole line of excuses. I can’t wait to hear them.
Bloch is a horrible match up for vanness. Bloch is a lot taller and has a long reach and shane wrestles close and on a step ladder it seems. He needs to be low like blaze if he wrestles that close
We have a coach that won worlds with 4 snap down go arounds. That style of wrestling wouldn't win a Pennsylvania state championship. The other coaches are fringe all Americans. Nothing about iowa's coaching equats to success. If they don't show up ready to win they won't. Metcalf, lee, McDonough, showed up ready.
Thanks for proving my season long point. Even IF they wrestle inarguably better than the regular season, none of you Will acknowledge it or change your tune whatsoever.

I don't mind the stalling calls against Block, but they NEVER call it like that anymore. That's the frustrating part.

On the bright side bailey wrestled very well and above where i had him penciled in for
Time out... If this was carver and the wrestlers reversed, if you don't think this is happening then I have a bridge to sell you...
