Never heard division give the games more value. BIG12 wants to split into division to prevent a late season rematch by playing cross division games 1st.

That's why everybody splits into divisions. It's because of TV. Back in 1992, when the SEC started their CCG, they didn't do that for the CCG in and of itself. They did it because it increased the overall value of their games. The CCG is just a side benefit. The real reason for a CCG is so you can split into divisions, and have more teams in the title race.

You're going by specifics mentioned for the Big 12's particular situation. I'm talking about the intrinsic reasons for having divisions.

Sorry, but that is just total nonsense. The reason the SEC split into divisions was because that's what the NCAA rule required you to do in order to hold a championship game at all. That requirement was the very reason the Big 12 petitioned for deregulation last year.
