This will get really fun.

Great time to walk away from any unwanted binding agreements.

Something big might result from this, not sure what...but something.

I dont see any reason why a school like Nebraska, PSU, Arizona, couldn't walk away and join a new conference.. Albeit permanent.

The GOR, which everyone loves to pretend actually matters, would be a non-factor.

I wonder if a school say like Nebraska who is relatively new to the B1G is researching that to test it right now to play in 2020 say in the Big XII as being a non conference game vs maybe as many as 8 old opponents Just goes to show the grass ain’t always greener.

it’s like a tree falling in the woods comparison. If there’s no conference to play in in 2020, can a school say we’re playing independent contracts because there is no grant of rights in 2020 cause the conference closed?

I would think the conferences would block any attempt by it's members to play in another conference for one year.

>>> Coach Scott Frost suggested the Cornhuskers would move forward hoping for "an opportunity to compete."

But where? Are we now realistically talking about Nebraska playing on its own schedule in 2020 and possibly looking for a new conference after that?

Don't blink. The Big Ten's TV contracts expire after the 2022-23 school year. Will the Huskers wait even that long?

One official from a Big 12 school said Nebraska would be welcomed back with "open arms." But what about the fact that it left the conference for the Big Ten in 2011?

Nebraska esp, as they voted against cancelling...

why didn’t Dennis Dodd just come out and say we spoke to someone in the WVU AD or WVU administration who ask not to be identified?

that statement is so WV it should added in another verse somehow to Country Roads or Hail WV!

Why would Nebraska give up money from a conference that has been #1 the past 2 years in earnings?

Why would Nebraska give up more conference money?

Well, Nebraska record since leaving the Big XII and Texas recruiting is a good reason.

Played in Big XII title game their last season and came within a second of winning

2010 10-4 last season in Big XII

join B1G
2011 9-4
2012 10-4
2013 9-4
2014 9-4 last season of that mean Bo Pelini
2015 6-7 a nicer Mike Riley arrives
2016 9-4
2017 4-8 the nicer Mike Riley is run out of Lincoln
2018 4-8 the favorite son Scott Frost arrives to return them Big Red to previous glory
2019 5-7 Scott Frost realizes this ain’t a G5 schedule or Big XII north like back in the day

as far as $$$$ goes in Nebraska they got plenty as it is. I think they want to win and get back to rivalries vs Oklahoma cause Farmageddon vs Iowa and Minnesota ain’t the same as what they used to have.

From a conference that no longer plays football?

...that may play in the spring, or possibly next year, maybe?

Why wreck their books when there is an option?

IMO, they are just going to leverage B12 for something but a cancelled season is big enough for a team to walk away.

Those contracts run out soon, who knows what futures deals look like right now.

Nebraska has no power anymore.

They wish they were that university that could influence others. That isn't the case.

College sports is all about bringing something to the table.

Some of you may not remember but Nebraska was looking at going to the Big East when the Big 12 formed. They never really wanted to be in the Big 12.

Because they didn't have the power they had in the Big 8. Big 8 was dead.

So Nebraska gave up the rest of the power they had to join the B1G to add some more revenue.
B1G has them by the balls. They can't really do much.

I guess people in the B1G are upset because they were looking for solidarity.
Iowa as usual bent over. They want to be accepted by the people in Chicago as one of them. Nebraska doesn't care

Now the B1G is raging a campaign to make Nebraska look weak.

Because their president never changed his vote
Plus the Senator from Nebraska tried to use political pressure.

There's currently (3) B1G teams that are attempting to work out something, that would allow them to play football. I doubt it will be successful, but at least they're trying. One of the three is more vocal than the other two about it. (not including Nebraska in these three I'm referencing)

If it is not successful, its because they (the universities) dont actually want it to be...and they are just providing theater to give an appearance they want to play.

There isnt anything actually stopping them, and dont tell me the conference will disown them....you gonna dump 4 schools? Then what?

That's just tough rhetoric, they cant back anything up.

Take a stand and snow your anger at the B1G

I don't know how people can support these schools anymore.

They obviously don't care for their fans.

Good Lord are you so flat out stupid. Yeah got to care for forum warriors and six pack Lazy Boy athletes! To hell with the players...coaches...staff... and families of the guys on the field. Let them play without helmets and pads too! More blood...broken bones...the better. Entertainment baby.

You are just an unusual poster

For someone who wastes so much time on a message board dedicated to something he doesn't care about is weird

Either you like college sports or you don't

Anyway .

Heard a great idea for Nebraska fans.

If they want to join the Big 12 and improve their team...

They should become Iowa State fans

The players and their families want to play, and the ones who dont, can sit the year out. Coaches and staff want to play.

So what are you talking about?
