The century is a quarter gone now and the entire Big Ten has yet to win a college basketball championship (before anyone asks, the 21st Century began Jan. 1, 2001.)

A possibly more impressive record of ineptitude: The entire conference has won one college basketball championship since the 1980s...

That's really a pretty unbelievable record of failure for a conference of, now, 18 mostly very large universities, many of them with extremely well-funded athletic departments and that consider themselves historically significant programs.

IU won in 81 & 87, Michigan in 89, and Michigan St in 2000.
