I know he is not in the right system but as much as we liked him last year the truth is he really isn't that good maybe it's just me but I think he is soft and doesn't play hard enough
Yes, it is just you. The kid is a typical European player who is grossly/poorly coached by a Moron. This kid is obviously a stretch 4 who is being forced to play out of position. It is hard for me to feel sorry for him because he did it to himself. He didn't have to follow his oppressor to Arkansas.

His body language is telling me he is not happy. He was always smiling while at Kentucky . Now the smile is gone … bad choice on his side to leave Kentucky to follow Calipari. He lost two years of his life playing for Calipari. Unless he transfer to a team with a system that he would thrive in like Pope system, he might be better off going back to Europe. At this rate his NBA dream is very very far away…. Or if you prefer is as close as Calipari coaching abilities…

Z is very overrated by this board. He's been a good 3 point shooter this year, but that's pretty much all he does well. This board gets a lot of tunnel vision around 3 point shooting in general.

And for the record, he's averaging more 3 point attempts per game than any of our bigs, and only Brea and Robinson are shooting more per game than Z.

Yeah he’s not physical at all. He’s a good shooter but otherwise is a major liability in a lot of ways. Think he looked good at times offensively last year, but I think most players will have great moments when they’re playing with a backcourt like Rob/Reed/Reeves. I think Bradshaw is the best of the 3 centers we had last year that left.

He is nowhere near what he appeared to be against Georgia last year. A 7-foot Curly Neal. However, playing for Cal would limit anyone that isn't a PG.

The man brags about the most generational center since Ewing taking the fifth most shots. That was idiotic.
I think that point about Davis was more just emphasizing how insane his impact without having to take shots. Dude was one of a kind. Generational college talent

I don’t think it’s just him. Include me in on that as well. Big Z is nothing but a stand still wide open 3 pointer shooter.

The addition of the headband and the “still loading” mustache isn’t helping his intimidation factor either.

If you read my post, you wouldn't have to ask the question. However, the discussion wasn't about who's at fault. My response was to you questioning the kid's talent. The kid is extremely talented, just misused.
oh my another one of those guys!

Yep include me in that as well. I’m picturing Z on our team this year and feel like he would just magnify the lack of physicality issue. 7’2 dudes who can shoot don’t grow on trees and I’m sure he’d have some good offensive games, but man other than making 3s he doesn’t add much. Envisioning running any offense through him = yuck

I am not surprised that posters on this board are trashing a player who was once here and left. Some on this board do it as a favorite pastime. I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that those who are trashing him are still longing for Cal. If I recall, it is never Cal's fault when players don't workout.

I think there’s a difference between trashing and analyzing somebody’s game, especially someone who was on our team and would have been if Cal didn’t leave. I don’t typically participate in this but I see people trashing DJ Wagner all the time

not trashing the kid by no means I just don't think he is that good he just doesn't have that instinct to be that guy

It is hard for me to believe that you people are still defending Cal. I guess you will take it to your grave. Lol
A lot of you guys have problem with any nuance whatsoever. Saying that not literally everything is Cal’s fault isn’t a defense of Cal. It’s just realizing that basketball has a lot of moving pieces and the players are the ones who actually play, not coaches.

If you watch Z play he has a lot of issues that aren’t coaching related.

LmdCat knows no nuance. It’s all either “Cal all bad” or “Cal all good”

He wasn’t defending Cal lmao. Again, not everything has to be extreme.

Saying “not everything is Cal’s fault” in no way equals: “defending Cal”
I have yet to read a single post on this board that has ever suggested that everything was Cal's fault. "Not everything is Cal's fault" proclamation is along the lines of stating that water is wet.

Okay well if you believe that, why are you saying people in here are “defending Cal”? Point me to the post that was defending him

Yes, Z has issues. It is called not having fun because he is coached by a moron.

I am just calling out Cal's typical defenders. I am sure that you guys don't believe Cal's struggles in Arkansas are his fault either.

No, Cal is washed and I’ve said that multiple times on this board. So you’re just wrong about that. You still didn’t answer my question about where in this thread people were defending Cal.
Yup. I'm glad Cal's gone. My stance on Cal was to always give him last year and see what happened. It was a failure. He's got a lot of issues, not the least of which is I think he just doesn't care anymore, but Z not being a lottery pick right now is not one of them.

He’s probably wondering why in the hell he decided to play for Cal again instead of for a coach who encourages the three. Maybe he’s not motivated.
He didn’t decide. The decision was made for him .
