Interesting day to say the least.

PSU struggles to beat Army: Hack would be sitting on our bench I think. Like his team, totally over-rated.
Army, like all of the academies, will fight to the end and they had their chance to win this. Kudos to them.
We will have to really play a disciplined game when we meet.

Michigan State stumbles to another close win over Purdue. MSU seems to be also way over-rated. We may be a lot more competitive than I thought with them

Iowa beats rated Wisky. Iowa will probably trade places with them in the rankings.

Michigan really showing that they are playing on the same page. Maryland looks lost.

Indiana winning over OSU (as I write this) which may well mean Indiana is a lot better than many expected or OSU is another over-rated team.

Saying that Hack would be sitting on our bench is the dumbest comment in the history of this board

LOL! Anyone would have to go to great lengths to have the "dumbest" comment in this site's history.

Apparently, you are still living in the hype world of Hackenberg. Check out the NCAA QB standings before you open your mouth.
He was rated 107 out of 125 with a rating of 37.1. Just for reference, our QB is rated at #78.
Hack's numbers for today were 10/19, 156yds. and 1 TD. Doubt those numbers will do much to lift him much higher.

I think Northwestern is officially good, as is Iowa. Wisconsin and Minnesota are HORRIBLE on the offensive side of the ball. Like, Don Bosco Prep, JV-level bad. Camp Randall is a tough place to play, and their D is for real, though.

Indiana is playing about as well as they possibly can against OSU. I would love to get those guys next week. They will have ZERO left in the tank.

it's a bad week for the league......or the bottom and middle of the league is all better than expected (including RU, who with a better QB and more aggressive DC, could spring an upset next week)....one can dream right???

Perish the thought about RU. These types of statements are rare here today.

As far as the top teams we played from last year compared to this year (OSU/MSU/Wisconsin/Nebraska), I think last year's version of all of them are better than this year's version to date. Michigan is the one I'd say is better this year compared to last year.

And, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm...you know, IOWA, who is very likely to go 11-1 or 12-0 and win the West. 10-2 at worst. Seriously, take a peak at that schedule.

I didn't include Iowa. I'm only talking about the teams on our schedule from last year compared to this year.

We could just pretend to be the SEC and say this just proves that the entire conference is good and there are no "bye" weeks. Isn't that what they claim when bottom dwellers give the top teams a tough time.

You got us next year, big guy. Better strap on the big boy pants :)
Yea all you guys wanted Ferentz fired last year. You guys are a bunch of geniuses over there. Try a few years of Flood next time before you want someone fired. I know I know you never wanted him fired. YEA RIGHT!!!

We had Flood-level results for the last 5 years, and with some legit NFL talent on the roster. See how that goes for awhile with a coach making 5 times what yours does.

We have good receivers and penn sts online is a disgrace.. Hack is overrated but to think he sits behind Laviano is hilarious.

You know I said above that the top teams we played last year in the B10 (OSU/MSU/Wisconsin/Nebraska)were better than this year's version up to date.

I should amend that to say you know across college football I don't really see that any dominant teams out there. SG started a sarcastic thread the other week about the B10 being overrated filling the top 2 spots. I responded that really who'd take their place and that everyone really has some flaws and it's a function of the where you start and how the polls are set up. After this week again it's more evident that many teams have flaws and no one is really dominant. Ole Miss/Georgia/ND/UCLA all losing in the top 10. Even teams that are undefeated have been tested here and there. Baylor is probably the only one who has been dominant but their strongest competition to date has been Texas Tech.

From week to week, I don't know that this season will be so predictable.

That's a good point. Ohio State, by comparison to last year, looks like a mess except for Ezekiel Elliot. Cardale Jones seems to have regressed (he is still a great QB). Their defense looked vulnerable. Either tOSU has regressed as a whole or the other teams have improved in comparison. OSU had 8 penalties for 109 yard yesterday. Fire Meyer!!!!!!

In the post game interview yesterday, Urban Meyer looked a bit worried and acknowledged his team had to get better. So did James Franklin. So did Coach Norries Wilson last week. The teams that will succeed will exploit the weaknesses of their opponents and continue to improve.

Can't Rutgers improve? Or should we hyper focus on the Penn State game? WSU brought it down to the wire with Cal yesterday, a ranked team. Maybe WSU is not as bad as we thought--or should we hyper focus that they lost to Portland State in their first game of the year. Maybe they are getting better. Can Rutgers get better as the season goes on?

It's one week in conference play. Conference games (for all conferences ) tend to be closer. The teams, coaches, players, etc are very familiar with the opponent and there tends to be minimal "intimidation" factor. Indiana played OSU close last year. Purdue has played MSU tough over the last several years. The important thing is to win, style points are pretty meaningless at this point.

Actually, think Nova passed down those pictures of Flood to Chris L.

Nova was our best QB when he was here, so it's good that Flood stuck with him. He delivered a lot of clutch TD passes and had a very strong year last year.

It's funny that some of the same fans that were calling for Laviano to play over Nova are now blasting Flood for playing him.
