Fair point but....

If they had said Laviano sucks a number of posters would be tripping over themseves congratulating the B1G crew for their honesty.

On the other hand if they say something good about the RB's people would be singing it to the high heavens.

I guess my point is nothing these guys say will change a single mind. Most people here have already decided what RU is or isn't.

Well technically isn't clothing insulation from the exterior? So in theory it should keep your temp closer to body temp whether its 20 degrees or 120. In the heat you just lose the evaporative cooling

Yes he did. It's a compliment any way you slice it. He's essentially saying "it looks like RU finally has their s#it together compared to what we've seen in the past". That's good enough for me at this point.

Careful. In another thread, the Debbie Downersi threw cold water on the good feelings and excitement from positive vibes coming out of camp. Always remember--Rutgers sucks, only Rutgers sucks. Everything is great for other teams. Only Rutgers has weaknesses.

Unlike some on this board, I am very optimistic about Rutgers chances this fall. Yes they were 4-8 last year , had at times a pathetic defense and inconsistent quarterback play, and will be facing a daunting schedule , especially in the first 5-6 weeks. But I've always felt this team had more talent on both sides of the ball than shown by its record. Before the season started the team was reeling from suspensions , criminal charges and Flood's overall incompetence. I agree with Parcells that you are what your record says you are. But Ash taking over has had a significant positive impact. He recognized early on that Rutgers needed to be bigger and stronger if it was to compete with the top teams in the Big Ten , especially in the 4th quarter when so many blow outs happened. Add to that a better defensive scheme and a new approach on offense that create reasons for optimism. Finally, most of the talent is back ( Caroo the exception) , the defensive secondary has more depth and finally some experience, the the d-line if healthy is excellent, and there are quality skill players on offense in addition to a solid and experienced O-line. If Laviano ( I believe he will start) continues to improve and the LB's develop quickly, this could be a fun year.

PS--I've never been a big supporter of Laviano but believe he will have a big year. With a year's experience under his belt and a better coaching staff behind him , I think Laviano will be a very pleasant surprise.

I would normally agree with this, but when Gerry DiNardo says the practices are "Best practice we've seen to date. Impressive in many ways, physical, personnel, tempo, organization and efficient", I can't help but view that objectively as a positive statement about the state of the program.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only practices they have seen to date on the BTN Tour are the practices at Maryland. This is Day 2 of the tour. Not much of a sample. Still like the positive vibe, but context is context.

Indiana Monday, OSU Tuesday, Maryland yesterday all preceded RU. PSU is tomorrow then there's 5 more next week and 4 the final week.

I'm kind of in the "realist" camp that doesn't get to high or too low based on media reports, but one has to be a bit excited by DiNardo's comments. He's not just comparing this practice vs. other B1G practices this year, but I'm pretty certain he's also comparing the level of professionalism of the new staff vs. the old staff and clearly being much more impressed with the way the new staff runs things. Which we've heard a lot from several "insiders" on the RT, too.

I still see 5 wins as most likely, but 6-7 is feeling a little more possible now, to me and 4 is feeling like the bottom to me - and I think we're going to surprise somebody favored to beat us by 10 or more and I'm hopeful we won't be getting blown out regularly by the top 15 teams. We'll see, I guess.
