They have told Rutgers to leave.

Maybe other conferences should do the same to underpreforming, tail coat riding teams

Where did you read that? There's no way that will happen. Rutgers wasn't added for their football program, they were added to sell the Big 10 network in the NYC metro area.

My bad.

--------------------------------------------

What's known is Rutgers' distribution share will go up gradually each year between now and July 2021, according to fiscal year projections obtained by The Star-Ledger in February 2014.

The breakdown is this: $10.86 million in 2015-16, $11.2 million in 2016-17, $11.6 million in 2017-18, $14.9 million in 2018-19 and $19.3 million in 2019-20.

-------------------------------------

I guess what i dont understand is why they get probably 10x what our conference members get yet they are terrable.

Satire obviously. Rutgers to Big 10 was never about being competitive in football it was about potential TV viewership in NJ (agree with the writer that NYC does not care about Rutgers) and there are millions of potential viewers in the Garden State. When Rutgers wins they do have good attendance.

PS Rutgers declining (according to their fans) the 76 Independence Bowl put TU in the game. That game insured that TU is one of just a few schools to play in a bowl game in every decade since the 1930's.

That satirical article has some merit if folks discuss expansion with the idea it may not always be the right thing. More isn't necessarily better.

Rutgers is so bad....
How bad are they?
They're getting shut out by Illinois at home.

Seriously, Illinois is as bad an FBS team as there has been over the last 5-7 years.

Still, TCU and Iowa State are on record (rumor) as voting no on expansion. Boren is playing Yoda - no but not so soon, could be yes, but don't expect it. I expect a no expansion announcement Monday.

Same. You've got 2 schools against it altogether. And you have 8 schools left that even if they are for it no one wants the same two teams and they need a minimum of 8 votes. Sorry Houston and Cincinnati, your vote doesn't count.

Just remember they turned to a Tulsa Alum to get it straightened out!
