2nd Lieutenant Wyatt Hendrickson is a 3 time Big 12 champion.

2025 Big 12 Team Championship
Hendrickson toughed out a win but it was stunning how poor he wrestled. Giving up that sloppy reversal and back points changed the whole match. It took Wyatts confidence and aggressiveness. He got a big takedown to take the lead but took a horrible half shot that got him injured a little later. Just think how close we were to losing the big 12. We are the Champs of the Big 12 but going into Nationals our confidence has to be low, and we don't know if our best wrestler will be wrestling because we don't how hurt Wyatt is? Those 3 Coaches in the corner looked stunned just like I am. I would give them an F for today. Everyone wrestled tight, and when the big moment of the match came they each came up short except Wyatt gutted it out wrestling 50%. I think we were lucky Schultz can't shoot a take down. Worst night of wrestling I have ever experienced.

Very poor effort in the finals and consolation or we win this in a blow out. Sad we seemed to have peaked, and if anything now, are falling off a bit at the end of the yr. With 6 in the finals, you expect more than 1 winner.

Hamiti losing the way he did when he had the match, was disappointing.

Hope our guys get up for the ncaas and excel!!

Hope cam amine can pick it up too.

Hamiti losing was an absolute epic failure and embarrassment.
What are you talking about ? Dean lost in OT to KOT. One of the best around. It was heart breaking close loss. But nothing close to epic failure or embarrassment.

We need to temper our expectations for Nationals. We don't have killer mindset to win in big time situations. We wrestled timid and scared except for Hamiti and not with the aggression seen earlier this season.
After watching uni wrestle the past 2 days, they are so good at forcing scrambles and controlling the movement on the mat. We have to get better in both areas.

This a totally dumb statement!
KOT is a defending National Champion and ranked number 1 in the country currently. Hamiti had his chances to win but a KOT was too big and strong tonight.

That was not sloppy, it wasn’t perfect however and that comes with more than one year with a coach.

You haters are forgetting how **** we have been in the post season for years.
Not a hater, they haven’t made a jump since Xmas, except for Jamison. Several have regressed. Hopefully they will wrestle there best when it counts this will either motivate them or hurt their confidence. Taylor will be a better coach in a few years he is in year one so a little bit of patience is needed I guess.👍

Looked like a team full of guys who haven’t won anything of note recently and wrestled tight because of it.

Some tough matches and very close losses.

Overall the goal was accomplished and in Taylor’s first year he got OSU back to the top of the conference where we haven’t been in a few years.

Two tough days of wrestling with more positives overall than negatives.

Agree to disagree. Hamiti could've and should've won. But hey, he's only 1 of 5 that didn't get it done. Thank goodness for Hendrickson sucking it up through an injury and hanging on. He showed heart and dedication to his team, id loved to have seen this from his teammates tonight. Hoping Hendrickson doesn't have a serious injury. He deserves his shot at a title and im damn glad he decided to finish his career as a Cowboy!!

If we didn't have Hendrickson this would have been an All Time choke job blowing a Championship. Unbelievable bad performances today. I think our Coaches have really done a poor job of Coaching and preparing our wrestlers especially for these finals. Great recruiters but can they coach? The worse night of wrestling I have seen in a long time.
Exactly. Including the Iowa dual it's the worst match side coaching I've ever seen. I can show 5 team points given away in the last 50 seconds of the Iowa dual. And through this tournament how many losses did we take with the lead with less than a minute to go? Unbelievable. Other than the Wyatt win the only clutch moment was Plott battling to not give up bonus points. That was huge.

Major pants pooping in the finals (and placing matches in general), but I’ll take a conference title. Let’s hope the staff learned a few things about what NOT to do to get guys ready for matches like that and go make some noise at NCAAs.
The Coaches will need to improve a lot but it is just their 1st year so there is hope for the future. We will have better wrestlers (recruiting) but if our coaches don't improve 200% we will never touch Penn. St. UNI outcoached us by a ton and they make probably at least a million dollars a year less than our Coaching staff. We have hope but we have regressed at the end of the season just as we did last year. I really liked yesterday but really dislike how we finished this tournament. Several times they showed pictures of our coaches and rightfully they looked beaten and scared.

Taylor's face prior to Hendrickson said a lot on how the evening session went. Disappointing to lose 5 of 6 matches after wrestling their *** off this season.
I saw the look also, a very low moment for Taylor and the Coaching staff. They better really look honestly at themselves because they need to get much better. Same thing happened to John but he did win 1 National Title early with Pat, Mark and Fried winning National Titles. But then there was a drought.

Tough night. Coaches will adjust going forward. A lot of our guys were timid, but that is uncharacteristic of them, so let's not get too emotional and act like the sky is falling. We're Big 12 Champs for the first time since 2021 and outright champs for the first time since 2020. These guys are competitors. They'll take the bitter taste left in their mouths and let if motivate them going forward.

Agreed. Also I would say UNI wrestled lights out.

Spratley seeded 4, finished 2nd +
Reece unseeded, 0-2 -
Taken seeded 4, finished 2nd +
Teague, unseeded, finished 4th +
Fish seeded 2nd, finished 4th -
Cam seeded 3rd, finished 5th -
Dean seeded 1st, finished 2nd -
Plott seeded 2nd, finished 2nd +
Surber seeded 1st, finished 2nd -
Wyatt seeded 1st, finished 1st +

Basically finished 50%

The 197 loss was the disappointment for me. The others were all underseed matches or not favored (174).
