How many of the 3.152 million actually were pitt athletic supporters? You have to figure more of them watched PSU-pu hoping for a PSU loss than watched pitt-wvu.

Those are impressive numbers IMO for a Thursday night.
Not particularly. OSU @ Minnehaha was watched by about 6.5mm the previous year. The opposing game was Boise St/UCF which was watched by fewer than 900k.

I would guess that If PSU was on ESPN, and Pitt was on Fox, the ratings difference would have been much greater. ESPN had game day and hyped this backyard brawl for days leading up to it. Pitt played a very entertaining game and they still LOST the ratings battle.
