I think it is going to be Drew Barker. I believe that he is going to have a huge breakout season. On Defense I believe that Matt Elam is going to see the light and make a huge impact on the LOS.

Two very good choices, and both vital to our success.

I would go with Barker, because he is going to appear to be a lot better than he is (and I think he will be very good, from all the hype) because he is going to have a very good supporting cast.

Courtney Miggins. Even though the rest of our front 7 including Elam is pretty much trash

Damn dude, do you ever have a single positive thought? It is like you are miserable 24/7/365. Our front 7 certainly isn't at the level we'd all like it to be in terms of overall depth, but it is also a long way from being trash. Quite a few of the guys in the front 7 are actually quite promising. We just need MORE of them.

During basketball season I'm quite the happy camper. But give me a stoops coached team then you're gonna see a negative nancy over here. So far he hasn't proven a single damn thing yet many here thinks he deserves as much time as possible because in their minds he is a proven head coach. But he just hasn't proven a damn thing. We are 5-14 in our last 19 games with zero wins against winning teams and 2 wins over FCS teams (I count Charlotte as D-2, lets be real they're worse than a lot of D-2 teams). And our best win (by record) being against EKU. I'm sorry but stoops at the end of last season still looked like a coach coaching his very first game as a head coach and that's after 3 years of experience.

My God, and I thought I was anxious for football to start.

Come on, basketball season, I hope none of our five stars disappoint you.

Do you think we should fire Cal now or wait until mid season?

Believe it or not. I'm probably one of the most realistic actually unbiased non homer fans on this board. I'm just brutally honest and keep things in perspective while all the blue kool-aid drinkin homers get mad at my brutal honesty. Sometimes I might say things in a harsh tone. But the point is always there and it's not as if I'm spewing a bunch of BS like the 7-5 8-4 people of this board (the posters people tend to love). I'm just real about things whereas most everyone else wants everybody (stoops apologists) on board with the 'wishful thinking hopeful best case scenario we're gonna have a breakthrough season with our proven head coach who has done an excellent job coaching games and game preparation thus far and I say that solely because he's UK's coach and the average player point system recruiting rating rankings index system that average out 10-13 in the SEC every year and he has no choice but to bring us to the promise land with all that ability!' opinions that they mostly share amongst each other. That's just not me. Not who I am it's ok to be hopeful but damn it's just a bunch of wishful thinking for the most part.

I feel like my purpose on this board is to bring balance to the board due to the overwhelming amount of unrealistic homers that flood this board expecting a bowl season every year no matter what regardless of how atrocious the in game coaching from our head boss man has been thus far. Without me this board is just a bunch of people saying 8-4 this 7-5 that 6-6 worst case scenario this when in reality that's actually best case scenario. What will happen though is we'll be 5-7, 4-8 being the most likely results. I get a lot of hate here for the tone in which I say things. But I'm fed up with stoops piss poor in game coaching ability it's time for fans to stop talking and apologizing for the man and it's time for him to stop making excuses much like his fans do after each loss and it's time to win some damn games.

I've seen nothing from Stoops in game coaching ability that has had me say, hmm. We might have something here. It's just a bunch of scratching my head thinking what the hell did stoops just do? Why does he show zero composure on the sidelines during games? It's ok to be fired up but the man looks like he's in panic mode all the damn time and I just don't feel like that helps the team. If a bad call is made, he'll be complaining to the ref 3-4 plays later about the bad call instead of moving on and there's no way you'll convince me that letting a bad call effect multiple plays after the call is good for the team. Am I the only one who notices these things? He lets a bad call effect his team 3-4 players because he can't get his head around the bad call and won't stop complaining. It's utterly ridiculous and a sign of someone who's never been there before.

It'd be nice for our players to look towards the sideline and see a calm and collective coach once in awhile that has a 'don't worry we got this' demeanor as apposed to them looking at the sidelines and seeing a coach flipping absolute sh** as if the man's wife needs to be rushed to the hospital after having a heart attack type demeanor. Just by the way the man carries himself on the sidelines and the excuses he makes after games and after the season just gives me that 'he's in way over his head' vibe. And I'm tired of it. He either needs to get us some results this season. And if we don't we need to concede the fact he's just not the man for the job. But even then I can guarantee most this board will be on the stoops apologist train they've been on since day one saying 'next year'. I just want someone like Gene Chizik here. Someone who has been fired but someone who has proven his worth. If we throw the money they'll come. Tired of unproven coordinators who look completely lost and dumbfounded on the sidelines. Give me someone proven and throw money at them then watch our program rise.

Did the hire of Shannon Dawson, a man who had never OC'd a D-1 game in his life let alone a major conference game, not tell you something? His first D-1 OC job was in the SEC? Why didn't he start somewhere in the sunbelt calling plays and work his way up or something? He just went straight to the SEC calling plays after never calling a play at the D-1 level in his entire life? Who's bright freaking idea was that? And that doesn't tell any of you all anything? I guess not since most of you all still thought Dawson was the man for the job after the season before he was fired simply because stoops hired him since 'stoops knows what he's doing so I'll trust his judgement and believe in Dawson since stoops does'. Ok then. I clearly remember me being pretty much the only one here along with one or 2 others calling for Dawson's job day in and day out after the season getting blasted by the entire board for thinking Dawson was a fool of an OC. I remember one poster telling me 'well I know you're the happiest one here you finally got what you wished for' Now everyone agrees he's garbage? Hmmm. Point is I'm one of the few realistic posters here who actually keep things in perspective. I'm a fan, who invests tons of money in the university, just a realistic one though. Deal with it. Without me you have bunch stoops apologistic homers apologizing for the man.

I admit I stopped reading after the "without me this board" line.

This board was just fine before you and will be after. And to even mention the amount of money you have invested to some of us is comical.

We have plenty of realists and negative Nancy's here.

You have no idea who the legion of doom was here and you obviously do not read anyone's posts but your own.

If you were over 20 you would realize that every preseason this happens as so many yearn for a breakthrough year.

Doesn't mean your premise is wrong. I have yet to be impressed with anything other than the uptick in recruiting, which still lags behind in the SEC.

But your wording of our players is pathetic and I have about had it with new posters who haven't been out of high school 5 years acting like they are all knowing and thinking it is ok to be punks to longtime posters.

Please do not make me diminish what little credibility you have built up with your new username.

Why don't you do everyone a favor and at least wait until we've underplayed in a game before making posts like that. For that matter, since when are we allowed to trash players lke you did and fo, all the time. It's simply wrong and it should be deleted.

Not to get off topic, but for someone who is so anxious for basketball season to start and hates Stoops so much...wonder how he justifies only 1 title in 7 years with all the talent Cal has had....seems to me Cal has under performed.

I can't believe I read the whole thing. Nothing new in all that garbage and now I have a bad taste in my mouth..

I still can't wait for basketball season, do you think maybe you could leave a little early, lots of five stars over there you know. You really seem to be the prototypical frontrunner.

Just what is your purpose, is it to repeat all of Stoops sins over and over, do you really think you are going to get him fired this year, are you that delusional?

Or is your real purpose just to try to hurt recruiting? If that is it you sure have a lot of work to do, but then from all the time you wasted on the above post seems like you are really determined, did Stoops take away your girlfriend, I didn't think he was that type, but if that is it just come out with it like a man.

About the only thing you seem to have done so far is irritate a lot of posters.

I'm going with two sort of forgotten guys that I think will end up making some big plays this year.

On Defense . . . Jordan Jones - I think the kid is really athletic and a gamer. Love Eli Brown and Jordan probably needs to build some discipline but he will contribute big this year.

On Offense . . . Ryan Timmons - I think these coaches finally get that Ryan is more of a slot guy that is better getting the ball in his hands quickly and let him create rather than run routes.

What's utterly ridiculous is someone trying to act like a know it all when they don't even know the difference between effect and affect. I stopped reading right there.

People like you are the ones that give UK fans a bad name. Let them play a game first and until then you can keep your opinions to yourself. What do u expect us to get the calipari of football and be one of the top teams in the sec their first year? Ignorance.
