I am starting a movement. Someone get this to Stoops and Mitch. We need to hire Bill Cubit as Offensive Coordinator, presuming that Illinois is going to fire him after his time as interim head coach.
Reasons:
1. He is an older, more experienced guy, who would be a great addition to the young and inexperienced staff of great recruiters we have assembled.
2. He would give stability, organization, and management to our program.
3. He was a pretty good HC at Western Michigan, turning their program around from 2-10 and getting them to multiple bowl games.
4. His style is a little more traditional and would suit Stoops better, not an "air raid" type of attack, but a more balanced one.
5. He is older and probably would not be a big risk for being taken away to a head coaching job.
Drawbacks:
1. He will probably cost more than what we are paying Dawson.
2. Stoops would not be able to micro-manage him the way he does to S.D. He would probably have to be mostly left alone as a sort of offensive head coach. (Maybe this is not really a drawback.)
