Foster came in when I was a student and injected some life into the program. He brought in Walker Lambiotte, Patrick Baldwin and Kevin Rankin among others. Unfortunately the wins did not follow. He also recruited Evan Eschmeyer, although he never got the chance to coach him. Our seats have long been behind the Wildcat bench. We still joke about how Foster could turn the word "Christ" into a three syllable expletive on the many occasions when a Wildcat player did something less than impressive on the court.
He really seemed to care about NU and his players. I thought he was a good representative of the school and only wish he'd had more success here.

Former NU basketball coach and athletic director has passed away. I had the pleasure of interacting with Coach Foster quite a but during my time in Evanston. He was one of the nicest persons I've ever met. He will be missed.

RIP. I think he could have turned this program around. He was on his way, but then those guys transferred. If they had stayed, they have been the first NU team to go to the NCAA's. Don't forget, Foster also recruited Eschmeyer.

Foster had a couple of terrific assistant coaches in Bill Donlon (son is now coach at Wright State) and Tim Carter. Both were great guys as well.

I remember when he was relieved of his coaching job and I was quoted in the Daily saying something stupid and immature about it. I was a dumb 20-year-old kid who didn't think about the nice adult whose livelihood and reason to be was taken from him. Just that my team was bad and needed a change. I've always felt bad about that. He was a good coach and a better man. RIP Coach.

The team struggled but he was a good guy. A player or two short as many NU teams.
