I think they still hold the record for the earliest exit in the NCAAT by an overall number one seed. Kansas didn't make it through the first weekend in 2010 losing in the second round to #9 Northern Iowa.

Unfortunately, we also lost in the first weekend as a 1 seed back in the early 2000's. UAB was the winner of the 8/9 game and beat us. That was not a fun day.
that was Tubby and i refuse to acknowledge anything done under Tubby after 1999 ( the year he has to start coaching ) or BCG as both were train wrecks. WE were no better then any other also-ran with those shlubs.
That was the game that Tubby let Nolan Richardson watch practice. Naturally be told his friend Mike Anderson (UAB coach) what to expect.
It was that event that convinced me that Tubby was the wrong man for the job at UK. I was solidly supportive of him in 98 and 99. I had questions in 2000, but letting NR come to watch practice and then knowing that he told Anderson everything we were going to do, I was ready for OTS to go.
I've also blocked out 1999-2009. It makes me too angry to reflect on such soul-crushing ineptitude.
Still, UAB was a lot better than Bradley, Bucknell, and Northern Idaho or Iowa or who the hell ever that was. Self should send Cal a cut of every paycheck for not fouling because I think he'd be gone by now otherwise.

It was a travesty to be sure, but it goes to show that refs will sometimes reward illegal play from assertive guards. UL lives and dies by the referees' opinion on this.
