I mean...sure, dude has been one of the best coaches in CBB for about 25 yrs now. And Pope has...well, played for UK. Hell, even Tubby had some solid equity before we hired him. But sure OP...go on with this.

If it becomes a problem with losing, how your losing and culture then yes. It’s been done. Does Pope get fired now. Of course not.
In addition to that last year Self was in the hot seat and even some of his ex-players were calling for him to be fired.
Evidently instead of throwing a pity party over his critics he instead sacked up and may have the best recruiting class for 2026 and also has one of the top players in the country for this year.
Sometimes a fanbase can be neurotic and unrealistic but in this case it appears some heat from their fans got Self to get his a** in gear and put the hammer down with recruiting.
Kansas fans might rethink their position once they see Pope floundering around. Not that many people can handle a top shelf program like UK and KU. They better have every duck in line before they make a move.
