........does it again. Kansas St takes down Texas A&M 33-28 in the Texas Bowl. Wildcats led the aggies 23-14 at the half. The old man knows some FB.

After watching that game, other than their recruiting, I would rate the A&M coaching staff as incompetent. Aggies could've run the ball all day long, but chose instead to put the game in the hands of Knight who made a ton of horrible decisions.

And their defensive effort in the first half was marred by blown assignments.

Aggies looked unprepared.

No coach does more with less.. KState doesn't recruit that well at all. Snyder is great at developing his players

There's a reason Bill Snyder is in the College Football HOF. He's just awesome at his job.

The only coach I respect more is Rich Brooks, it's remarkable what Snyder has done at a place like KSU. Dude is universally respected by everyone in the college fb coaching circles.

He's got so much respect by his players that instead of dousing him with actual Gatorade they did it with confetti instead. What a class act!

Yeah. If the team sucks for decades then you show up and they get good and stay good then you leave and they suck again then you come back and they get good again it means you are a good coach.

Only the special ones can pull that off. He is one of those guys that can beat you with his team and could probably walk over to the other sideline and beat his team with your players. I've always said you can tell a lot about a coach on the improvement when they come in and how they dropoff when they leave.

Pat Fitzgerald of NW is pretty damn good as well. Sort of surprised a bigger football school has not made him an offer he can't refuse. Or maybe he is that rare coach who is perfectly happy coaching at a school where he is popular and could stay for many many years, without the pressure to win big at a Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, et al.

Absolutely. Bill Snyder is old school and has no time for BS. I think he's the one that fired an assistant for being five minutes late to a meeting.

Always wondered how they talked him in to coming back.

Bill Snyder is one of the most underrated coaches in college football history. K State was by far the worst program / worst job in America prior to his arrival (worse than Vandy, NW, IU, etc).

Was just thinking this. K state utilizes walk ons and juco transfers better than anybody in the country.

And conversely, Snyder had his team prepared, focused and executing a solid game plan. The difference in the two sidelines and team execution was pretty stark. Given the talent gap, this was not a good night for Sumlin and staff. Aggie coach's seat just got a notch hotter IMO.

Snyder is simply one of best coaches (maybe THE best) of my football lifetime. I can think of no one who took over such a historically bad football program, quickly elevated it to a nationally relevant program and, more importantly, maintained that national relevance for many years.

Peace

Also, conversely, no one does less with more than Kevin Sumlin...

That seat has to be getting hot. Sumlin is one of those coaches ends up losing to two or three teams he shouldn't and then turn around and win one to save his job.

Just turns into many years of mediocrity.

To me there is no one better at evaluating talent and getting players that fit what he wants to do. If you went by recruiting rankings alone, K-State should probably finish 4-8 every year.

Snyder is one of the top coaches in the game. Highly underrated but Kansas State has been a solid program under his direction and it can't be easy to recruit to a place like Manhattan, Kansas.

Bill Snyder is in the same class as Coach Bryant, and Coach Eddie Robinson. There are more out there, like those three, but those three stand out to me. It's a lot easier to win, when you have good talent, but there are not a lot of coaches who can take players and coach them up, to be consistent winners against the teams who get top talent.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY.
