I loved his color commentary .Loved his game as a kid, couldn't stand his announcing though. RIP Big Red.
I didn't either. He was a fun loving guy and probably didn't let it be known by many. R.I.P to the big goof that he wasOh, wow, that's terrible. I had no idea he was sick.

Hall of Famer Bill Walton, 2-time champ at UCLA and in NBA, dies
Bill Walton, who won two NCAA titles with UCLA and two NBA championships during a Hall of Fame career, died Monday at age 71 after a prolonged battle with cancer.www.espn.com
That's the only time in my life I thought the referees(or at least one) actually intentionally cheated Kentucky out of a game and maybe a championship. The rooferee made a 15 point swing in that game and it was done on behalf of the biggest academic cheaters in the history of NCAA sports. That UNCheat championship should get an asterisk.'I hope we never see anything like the first half of North Carolina and Kentucky again."
-- Bill Walton after the Roofer game
I thought everybody knew that you don't shake anybody's hand in the bathroom. Sounds like you are painting him in a bad light. I can't fault him for that.Had no idea he had cancer. Sad. I will share my bills Walton story.
Went to a Kentucky Utah game in Vegas 2019 and had seats on the floor which had special access to a private bathroom. I went in there and it was just me and Bill Walton. He was washing his hands. I was washing mine and I turned to him after and said something like" hello Mr. Walton nice to meet you " after general bs while washing and put my hand out and he said , rule number two in life son never shake another man's hand in the bathroom and walked out the door I was I was shocked just sitting there and now I'll never get to find out what rule number one was
everyone does....I thought everybody knew that you don't shake anybody's hand in the bathroom. Sounds like you are painting him in a bad light. I can't fault him for that.
Oh man that was funny. Good one. Very creative.
I'd actually never heard any saying or common wisdom about shaking hands in the bathroom. It also has never occurred to me since nobody has ever wanted to shake my hand in a bathroom.I thought everybody knew that you don't shake anybody's hand in the bathroom. That's the one time in my life I KNEW the referee was intentionally cheating UK. I'm fairly certain there are other times, (Rooferee in both UConn games comes to mind), but I know we were cheated that day. MF-ing rooferee...That's the only time in my life I thought the referees(or at least one) actually intentionally cheated Kentucky out of a game and maybe a championship. Indeed!I'm sorry to hear this news. Watching Walton play his first game in college as a sophomore was one of the most anticipated and memorable sporting events of my youth; I had heard about his greatness and seeing him for the first time was amazing.
I believe he did.RIP Bill. One weird and quirky guy but he seemed to love life and lived each day to the fullest.
He had a little bit of Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams in him. That quirky red headed hippie was one of the best to ever play the post.
He’s a loss for the game and its history.
I once met a CEO during a break in his presentation that was wizzing next me and he said the bathroom was his favorite room in the house because nobody tried to shake his hand there. I laughed.I'd actually never heard any saying or common wisdom about shaking hands in the bathroom. It also has never occurred to me since nobody has ever wanted to shake my hand in a bathroom.
Agree.Bill Walton was always the funniest one on the NBA on NBC
