Not sure I have ever seen a mention of this kid, but he came to Rutgers as a walk on and beat out a scholarship senior for the long snapping job. It's one of those positions where nobody notices unless you make a mistake, and he has been flawless this year.

My seats are right behind the Rutgers bench, and this kid is ALWAYS practicing his long snaps as the game goes on, ready at any moment to go into the game

Kudos to this young man from Parsippany Hills, and hoping he gets a well deserved scholarship going forward. Attached is an article about his recruitment

I thought this was a tribute to the late great jazz pianist and educator with strong NYC roots.

I thought it was about the former Yankee #1 draft pick, but then remembered that was Brien Taylor.

Great job by Billy and I hope he keeps it up and gets a ship / partial at some point.

I know it's an important position but most schools don't give scholarships to dedicated long snappers. Usually they find someone who can do it among the team or a walkon. Flood's the only one I know of that recruited a scholarship long snapper and we heard about him far too often.

I have mentioned this a few times as he hails from my town and went to high school with my kids. We sit at the top of 128 and cheer every snap from him. Here's an additional tidbit, I hear his freshman, high school brother is rated the best, or very near the top of his class in the country for long snappers (I have not confirmed this yet). Imagine 8 years of Taylors at RU if this consistency continues?

Let's hope it happens. Need the PHHS pipeline to stay open!

He's good in coverage too
I agree, his main job is to get the ball to the punter but the added bonus is the coverage he provides. When the returner looks upfield after fielding the punt, sees the different color jersey bearing down on him, his immediate reaction is to "avoid" and be funneled toward the sidelines where our 2 gunners are there to make the play. Or, feeling the pressure, cause the fair catch. Hence the improvement in our punters net ruturn average.
