It’s near… so how many NFL coaches get canned? And who?
I don't think that many get canned. Maybe Gannon out in Arizona. Giants have already made the move. Raiders I think keep Carroll. Commanders keep Henning. The rest of the NFC could keep their coaches. AFC west I don't see any changes. Jets keep Glenn I would believe. Stefanski is probably gone in Cleveland. Titans made their move. Maybe 3 coaches let go?

Should have been the opposite. Barry was the architect of the Watson trade that set the organization back years. But Barry has a Harvard degree - so there’s that for what it’s worth. Some of the biggest know nothing bozos I encountered during my career were Ivy League grads.

I never understood that hire to begin with
Same here. Morris was 4-7 after he took over for Dan Quinn, who was fired mid-season. Why Arthur Blank thought he'd be a better coach after being the DC of the Rams is a mystery.

I think Morris might have been a Rooney Rule hire. The Falcons have only had one other black HC, Emmitt Thomas, who was an interim after Bobby Petrino quit mid-season.

Big problem IMO is Arthur Blank. The guy may be the nazz at running Home Depot, but the Falcons haven't exactly lit up the NFC during his ownership. Best season they've had under him was the Dan Quinn-engineered Super Bowl season, where they lost to the Patriots in OT. I thought it was great that the following year, the Eagles did what the Falcons couldn't do.

I have no idea who Blank might pick for a new HC, but I can almost guarantee the hire won't get it done. The Falcons are rudderless - Kirk Cousins is an acceptable backup, but not suited as a starter, and yet he arguably performed better than Penix. Bijan Robinson is an OK back, but Allgeier IMO is not bad either. The rest of the offense is mediocre (my opinion) - Drake London has his moments. The defense has moments when they look very good, but has other moments when they fail - usually when the team needs them to perform the most. Ebiketie is the only former Penn Stater I know of on the roster. IMO the Falcons need a complete rebuild/housecleaning. They wouldn't need much to win the NFC South, which is as mediocre as the AFC North. Blank just needs to commit the resources to get there, and make decent hires.

Bijan Robinson is more than just “OK”.

Agree, dumbest women I ever worked with was a Harvard grad (couldn't do basic arithmetic) but she was head of special ed in our building.

On the Browns, would they bring Deion in to coach his son?

Raiders were smart to fire Carroll. They're drafting a QB at 1...you should have a new regime built around the strengths of your QB. Carroll would have just been fired a year later and the kid would have needed to learn a new offense

Cards fired Gannon which also makes sense.

Carroll was a head scratcher to begin with. He’s 74 and his timeline completely misaligns with the franchise’s.

That was always a “to-the-studs” rebuild. Now they can go after a young offensive mind to work with Mendoza.

I'm 75, and I can tell you from experience that you don't want anyone in their mid-70s in charge of anything important.
