I don't smoke weed anymore due to work but I would like to. My experience with weed is much different than most, no matter which strain I smoke I become very introspective. I think about my health more, I eat healthier, I exercise, I get work around the house done, I enjoy things more. I'm a more involved father.

One of my favorite pastimes used to be taking my vape pen with thc liquid and hiking up Natural Bridge.

It's a damn shame it's illegal.

Not everyone who uses a substance is negatively affecting their families.

Users who have decreased to the point of dysfunction have been happening for thousands of years. Pretty sure there is one consistent measure. Dysfunctional users don't care about impacts.

Not every "user" is the same. Pretty bold over generalization you stated.
Not my intent. Just speaking generally about the comparison between tobacco and drugs. Though it is hard to envision someone who's addicted to drugs or alcohol not having a negative impact on those around him.

What keeps you from doing those things when you don't smoke?

Pursuit of happiness is a myth. Happiness manifests from the inside. Chasing a mythical meaning to life will leave you empty as soon as the buzz wears off. Your vices are not making you happy they are only a diversion and distractions from the reality that your life is a lie.

Yeah. That’s the point.

Some of the worst moments of my life have happened because of alcohol. So you'd think I'd quit.

But some of the best moments in my life also involved alcohol. So here we are.

I'm strictly a beer drinker at this point. No hard stuff.

That's untrue. Your bias is kicking in.

I know plenty of coke heads that are leading healthy normal lives.

It's relaxing.

Edit:
Also, I think addiction has a lot to do with that particular person. Some people have addictive personalities and some don't. I've done pretty much every drug except heroin(I hate needles) in my younger years. Even at the height of my drug use 20 years ago, if I didn't want to do it, I wouldn't do it. There were lots of times I wanted to though.

The only drug I've ever been truly addicted to was nicotine. That **** is hard to kick.
Grover, if you haven't already, and really want to quit tobacco, give Chantix a try. I had to undergo neck surgery last fall, and my surgeon told me that it would help heal my spine if I could quit. I'd been in so much pain it was a no brainer.

My family doctor was more than willing to prescribe Chantix, and it WORKED. Within a week I noticed I wasn't reaching for a cigarette nearly as often. Within 30 days I was done and have not looked back.

I understand some people experience side effects, but I didn't. Anyway, I don't preach to folks who smoke, but when I can I tell anyone who will listen about my ability to quit using Chantix.

I haven't had a cigarette in almost 2 years. I started vaping and have slowly cut the nicotine level down to zero. I still vape some but just because it tastes so good.

Not trying to be a prick or anything else...a sincere question: I Grew up with an alcoholic parent and I believe I know what being drunk did for him, but what do people see as the benefit of being drunk or stoned vs being sober?
It’s always better to be drunk than sober.

I’ve never regretted being drunk, but I’ve definitely regretted being sober many times.

I don't drink anymore but when I did there were two reasons.

One, I used it to self medicate my anxiety. Two, seeking the euphoric feeling on intoxication.

I've never smoked weed. If it's made legsl I will. I won't risk losing my job to try it until then.

Same here, I moved to the Vapor Stick and slowly weaned my way down to zero nicotine fluid. Good for you bud.

Then the question is why do we allow this lie to be pushed down our throats by banks, corporations, and the media?
Simple -- because the MEST has corrupted our innate sense of self and destroyed our harmonic balance. Only a thorough auditing will allow us to reconnect with our inner Thetan.

I haven’t smoked in about a year. Not against it just haven’t felt like I want to or need to anymore. Used to smoke daily though. I still drink but not like I used to. Now, I just sip on beer or a glass of bourbon and only on Saturday’s.

Do some reading about dopamine and serotonin and the impact certain substances have on their release and uptake. It’s all just chemistry.

Drunk and stoned are two totally different feelings. I don't drink often but smoke regularly. The benefit is that I like the way it makes me feel. I don't NEED to get high, I just like to.

This is me. I drink 4 times a year, usually socially and 3 of the 4 times usually happen between Black Friday and New Year's Day.

I smoke much more often. I go to work stone cold sober every day. I don't smoke on work nights, but I do partake most weekends, about 1 gram total (that's not a lot). No different than the folks who drink beers while watching football on Saturdays, IMO.

I also don't have to smoke. I just like to. If I miss a weekend or have real-world obligations, meh. No big deal.

Essentially, moderation is key for anything from sugar and caffeine to bourbon and marijuana.

I don’t consume unless I’m off work the next day and have no responsibilities. Luckily I’m off tomorrow! Generally have 3-4 craft beers and then smoke a tiny bit off the one hitter and feel good. Then it’s hang out and listen to music, play pool, daydream, watch a game, fish, do some random things in the workshop, cook some good food, etc.. all the while drinking some coors light and enjoying things. I like this feeling quite a bit. Get up and work around the house and repeat. Life is good!!

I'm a beer and food kind of guy. Mexican, wings, pizza, burgers in particular. Most of the time I'm done after a couple or three beers. Been a long time since I've been truly hammered. Last time was sometime around 2005, when I coworker and I were having dinner at a Damon's in Richmond, Indiana while on a service call at a customer's polymer plant. We ate, watched NASCAR qualifying and played trivia while I had 12 of the 24 oz draft specials that evening. Felt like **** the next morning, mainly because I was up and down all night to take a leak. The time before that, was in 2003 when we went to a NYE party at a friend's house who was also an excellent bartender and was mass producing some strong Hurricanes, which I had 11 of. I was hammered enough that I was doing karaoke, which under normal circumstances I wouldn't do if you put a gun to my head. I never developed much of a taste for brown liquor, and even less for wine. Champagne? My wife's boss got us a fairly expensive bottle as a gift when we got married. It tasted like something you'd need a prescription for.
