I absolutely cannot stand how we’ve dominated Kansas start to finishuntil lately. We were 22-5 when Calipari began his constant losing to Kansas. To me it was the most insane stat in sports. To own a blue blood that bad, and then he goes and loses 4/5 to them.

Oh well, it just bothers the piss out of me. We’re still way ahead just not as much as it was.

then the “this game doesn’t matter” excuse made it worse to me. All because he couldn’t beat them.

Hopfully that tide turns back now that we have a coach who cares about these games.

Macy is incredible. Super guy who is one of the most knowledgeable about the game you’ll find. He’s our Jay Bilas without the bs.

At least he won the most important matchup. I mean AD and MKG did but ya know.

I'm just glad that the gasbag is gone. I guarantee his exit at Arky will be soiled and stained, just like everywhere else he's coached. The guy has screws loose.

Same here ... unbelievable finish! Darnell Valentine was the AA guard for Kansas that year. I was shocked to have pulled that game out. Crazy memories over the years. Nothing like UK basketball! Blessed.

Wasn’t here for this one. Born in 1985, the year of back to the future. Was raised to know those mid - late 70’s teams though. If I had a nickel for everytime my father said the biggest screw job of all time was 1975, I’d be rich.

He’d go on and on about it, this was in the 90’s. Like it happened yesterday and he was Joe B😀

Your dad was right about 75. That’s the first season that I can remember.

Cal was 5-6 against them but beat them in the championship game. Not too shabby. I guess it really bothers the piss out of you that he was 13-2 against UL and 8-4 against UNC.

I’ll tell you what really pisses me off about Cal. Him coming in and destroying us last year at Rupp in the most highly anticipated home game in the last 25 years.

Well I thought it was stupid to boo the piss out the entire team lol. But it’s one of those games that has too much revenge factor. Doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme. As long as that bum washed up POS is out of here I’ll let him win his little head to head trophy. But stay the hell away.

Cal was blasted by Kansas IIRC and lost 4 of his last 5 or something close to that. We’ve never had a coach lose to Kansas at that clip now have we? Unless I’m missing the coach that lost 4 of 5?

Calipari has his superbowl games. UL is one of those. I’ll take the Carolina and UL streaks. The Kansas one was ridiculous.

KU also had better teams when Cal faced then a lot of the time. Not defending Cal but it's true.

Seems like Macy never comes around. Did he hate Cal?

I don’t think most of those guys especially Macy appreciated Calipari. Many reasons for it, but I do know there was a lot of animosity between Hall’s players and Calipari. As we saw during the press conference for Mark, it was a “back to the family” atmosphere. As Barnhart said, “find our way back to our heart”. It was unmistakably obvious the old guard was happy for him to be gone. Calipari was about Calipari, and early on when he seemed to embrace the tradition, it was likely a front to win the fanbase. You could see once he settled in most of that went away. Seems there was a lot going on behind the scenes, and I believe Macy and Calipari didn’t get along but I can’t remember the reason exactly.

Hopefully Mark brings all of that back together.

Best game I ever missed.
I left late in the game when it looked like we had no chance. Right after we walked out of Rupp, a car pulled up to us with the radio blasting. The driver hollers "Score's tied and Macy's on the line with a couple seconds left!" I yelled ******** or some such thing, and then we could hear Caywood scream "...and KENTUCKY WINS!
I never left another game early.

I hate that KU closed the gap somewhat too, but Cal also went 8-4 against UNC, who had a 21-10 advantage on us prior to his arrival. So you gotta take the bad with the good.

I still remember where I was when I heard Anderson had been dismissed from the team and Bowie and Minnifield had been suspended. Danville bowling alley, lol .
Most likely I was about 30 minutes north of you at the time.

It was time for Cal to go. Past time really.
But let’s no rewrite history. He’s taken every school he’s coached to the FF.

That’s not really soiled and stained.

UMass and Memphis fell off the map with Cal gone.

UK hasn’t and won’t.

Because we are UK.

Well he tried to leave us in tatters like every other program he left . There is nothing that bastard would have liked better than for us to have lost every game last year . Don’t kid yourself.

Cal was about Cal while trying to convince BBN otherwise. For Cal, it was never about UK, there were other priorities more important to him and he made that clear in his own words. He used the program more than the program benefited from his tenure. Pope is the complete coach who understands and cares about BBN and respects and honors the tradition. Cal never did that. UK didn't "need" Cal, but Cal needed UK to convince the world of his delusional misplaced altruistic fantasies hoping to make himself legendary among college coaches leading the charge to end generational poverty, regardless of the consequence. He damaged UK for his own purposes ... purposes he was never hired by UK to pursue. JMO.
