The VHSL playoffs have been around since 1970. Bluestone high school has never had even one football playoff game. Note, I'm not saying they've never won one. I'm saying they've never played one! Looking at VHSL-Reference they have no winning seasons since 1999. They were not very good when I was in high school (graduated in 1981). The Barons are currently 4-2 and have wins over Nottoway, Buckingham, Randolph-Henry and Cumberland. Their losses were both by one touchdown. They are rated #20 in 2A on CalPreps.

It looks like they are going to make it this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and if they do, I vow to drive down to see them and root for them all the way.

Good Luck, Barons!

That's remarkable. It's hard to believe they didn't make the playoffs a single time. Even a blind squirrel gets a nut.

Hope yall finish strong and make it in the dance. its great for ya school and community. It actually surprising there isnt more good football coming from that area. Blustone is next to Buggs Island lake? I frequent down that way often and i have met people that only wanna talk about football.

In order to keep your vow, looks like you will be traveling to Central Woodstock this Friday as they host Bluestone's first ever playoff appearance..

Hmmm, that's going to be a very historic game. I might scratch my plans to see Nandua at Madison to root for the Barons. I'd love to see a good crowd show up for this one.

I am assuming your talking about Madison. They have athletes on the field i was shocked at the run defense when they came to Strasburg. The Smith kid is the real deal though. Good luck to the Mountaineers in the playoffs

If you aren't familiar with Woodstock and you like good beer, check out the new brewery there. The food is tasty too.

Tunstall used to play Bluestone every year when I was in high school (08-12) . We'd beat the 64-0 like it was nothing. Don't get me wrong, they had solid players but just couldn't get it done. I'm glad to see them get over the hump. They're good kids out in Clarksville/Boydton.
