The straw that stirs the drink. Who is that after he graduates? Is it always a guard or is there someone else who makes things happen?

Probably a combination of Brown and Lathon

Based on what some posts on this board have stated, I'm interested to see what Ash shows this season. If somehow it has "clicked" for him this offseason and he has advanced his ability to run the offense to go along with his defensive tenacity, it'd be a very welcome surprise and bonus for the team.

I'm equally excited to see what Brown shows this season with a full offseason to work on his game to better fit with the needs of the Lead Guard in CCCs system.

A lot to be excited about to see in the early season games where hopefully there are plenty of minutes available for the staff to play with as the starters should not need to play their expected B1G minutes load.

"to date". Does that confuse you?
It seems to confuse you.....history includes everything up to and including "to date". You could either have said "in NU history" or "greatest PG to date". Saying "history to date" is as redundant as "5 straight consecutive scoreless games" we sometimes read from clueless journalists!

This is the kind of post that separates this board from all the other Rivals boards.

Greatest Lead Guard. And since he is the first (and only so far), no need for any debate.

True. But, the way he distributes (pass first) and controls the ball, I think he fits the true PG mold. There's no other guy in NU history I'd rather have running my offense.

Was Billy McKinney a point guard? Does anybody who saw both BMac and McKinney want to give us their opinion of the better player?

I never saw McKinney so I can't add much. However, that's an awful lot of points with no three-point line and no more than 27 games each of McKinney's four years.

I'd definitely vote for BMac as the greatest post-McKinney guard followed closely by Juice Thompson.

Jevon Johnson and Tim Doyle would be in a real battle for third place. :D

McKinney was a stud, no doubt! My offensive dream scenerio would be him at the 2, and BMac at the 1. I think BMac would have help led McKinney score even more.

Jevon Johnson doesn't fit into my dream scenerio. lol

Juice Thompson had an incredible final two seasons. Carried us to a win at NC State. Had 35 points in one game and a long free throw streak, most of them clutch. Not his fault we didn't get to the dance. McKinney would be classified as an 2-guard today.

Juice was a cornerstone for all four years and irreplaceable by anyone else on that team. That said, I'd still take BMac given the hypothetical choice.

I saw Billy McKinney play. He was indeed a 2 guard. Far better player than BMac with much less help around him. The next best player on the teams I saw was Forward Willie Williams, and then the Center, I think his name was James Wallace. Billy got a few years in the NBA before moving on to become a successful NBA Executive. Him and Esch are the best NU players I've seen since I started school in '74.

Billy McKinney. Love BMac, but Billy was a dynamic player.

I can think of a couple guys that would make it close. But as lead guard... Let's hope Lathon or others give us a chance to challenge BMac's status as the best

I would have put Parker up there and I would have loved to see him for his 4th year.

You probably forgot about a guy named Pat Baldwin.
