Second. I dont get why people feel the need to do anything but thank Bob.

Probably goes with the territory when a big part of the program. But really doesn't seem right to id and call out people to put them on record while you are able to post anonymously.
We should be grateful to Bob and all he's done. Separate and apart from his leading role in the new facility, the team clearly would have been much worse without his substantial support. Show some gratitude even if you disagree with him on who should be coach.
Also keep in mind that probably half of the people posting on this site now are just idiots that are not Hawkeye fans and just trying to stir up the hate!!
So again… where’s all the “insiders” to weigh in on this current mess? Where’s Bob he all of a sudden disappeared after trying to defend the mess the head Moran has created over the last 15 years.

Bob is trying to move this program forward in the best way he knows how. Like the guy or dislike the guy, like the strategy or dislike the strategy, but give him some credit for trying to help.
Why would any "insiders" and/or Bob come on here and try and explain anything after the last dual? It's not like anything anyone is going to say is going to change anyone's mind at this point. Seems most fans aren't on a "fence" right now, they either back the Brands or they don't. If they come on and say their peace, all that's going to happen is that they're going to get eaten alive by those that don't agree.
Lets be serious, we got our a$$es beat by a great team, we all saw it coming. I for one thought we wrestled a lot better than I was expecting. Hell, I thought we were going to see more techs and pins. Most of our guys battled pretty good IMO. Sure, that's not what "Iowa" wrestling is about but from where we are at this point...it's what I saw most of the fans asking for with this dual.

Dont know the guy to like or dislike. His financial contributions are unprecedented for iowa wrestling and the sport. However looking in from the outside it seems there is donor influence that crosses lines. Simply donate money and watch the results from the guys paid to make decisions. Donors be donors period! Dont cross that ver to inject status,, opinions and direction/decisions of the program. This is the line that tremendous support crosses into interference on personal opinion. Jmo

Why do some of you think Bob is telling Tom what portal guys and recruits to go after? I think he respects TnT enough to trust their judgement and knows they are not the type to be told how to run their program. The Bassett’s know that now also. I’m sure he gets insider information on what their plans are, as he should if they are spending his money. If the 2026 class that we all thought would be a big one didn’t fall apart last minute, there wouldn’t be so much panic. If we had Bo, Melvin, and the Raneys secured along with Mocco and the 2027/2028 recruits, people would just say wait a year or two at most and we will be right there with PSU/OSU. Now we are going to have to rely on the portal again for a few years to Waite for 2027/2028 classes to arrive and develop.

A staggering amount of ingratitude is being shown in this thread. Mr. Nicolls is the main reason the team has remained as competitive as it has the past decade. Without his support and money you can take Iowa's results each year and knock them 2 to 3 spots lower on the podium (or off of it). If he decides to pull his support you will see how bad things can really get.
Feeding a wild animal will weaken its ability to hunt for itself. Bob has funded these transfers thinking it is helping the program when in reality it has further weakened Brand's ability to recruit. Without this outside help Brands would have already been fired a few years back and DT would be the coach. Iowa (not OSU) would be on the verge of challenging PSU instead of hoping to stay in the trophy hunt. It has extended Brand's coaching career but weakened the program. Nobody owes him a thank you.

But first, imagine my shock to see my name as a thread. Well, not so much my name but that it was spelled correctly. Usually; Nichols, Nicholls, Nickels etc. I was invited to the PA Senators win party at Nats because they thought I was Bo N........ So it goes.

This coaching staff are the last ones to; beat PSU in a dual, Big Tens and Nats.
We performed poorly in the dual. Yes, we have to do better. I believe we will.

Way too harsh. TnT have to stand on their own (four) feet. Stop blaming those with deep-enough pockets to make serious donations as enablers. We all have to carry our own water in this world.
Do we say that if someone gives money to Oklahoma or Minny wrestling that they are supporting mediocrity? No, they're just fans who want to help, even if those programs are mediocre. Shaming the donators will only result in fewer donations.
I was one that jumped in to thank Bob for all he has done but I also voted for a change in the other thread. The dual was terrible but everything was trending down before that. I would be open to keeping Brands only if there were big changes made on the staff.
I understand your reasoning and really do appreciate Bob responding as well. Bob had made it clear that when Brands is gone he is gone as a donor, so it is a little different situation. I was too harsh when reading it back to myself. I do understand that the new facility He spent a ton of money on will benefit the program long term.
Thank you for all your support Bob, and I hope that our wrestling team will soon deserve it.
