Bob has stepped up. you said where would we be with out his money probably right where you are right now. With your logic money buys championships. I dont see it. I think its recruits and coaching Iowa is lacking in both. The coaches are not gettting it done. I get loyalty but 3-7 place sucks

One reply from me. Pile on thereafter. I don't have the time to respond or defend so check below for a further option to vent.

But first, imagine my shock to see my name as a thread. Well, not so much my name but that it was spelled correctly. Usually; Nichols, Nicholls, Nickels etc. I was invited to the PA Senators win party at Nats because they thought I was Bo N........ So it goes.

Yes, kingstown, let's make a change, any change because we just have to. Let's too panic, as that always ends well. Sound reasoning.

This coaching staff are the last ones to; beat PSU in a dual, Big Tens and Nats.

We performed poorly in the dual. Yes, we have to do better. I believe we will.

If you'd like to discuss further, come to Franktown or Salida.....not to my house but the Stagecoach or Vic. Good places to discuss wrestling.

Go Hawks

Why don’t you explain what exactly caused you to dislike Bob?

He puts his money where his mouth is to support Iowa wrestling and you are acting as if that is somehow a negative thing.
It's only a negative if it doesn't work....................................is it working?

Love the financial support Bob has given. I don’t believe he’s calling the shots, nor should he be. Based on the report that Bob is done supporting the program financially if TnT are replaced, I do question whether his support is truly for the program itself or just for the brands bros. He’s in charge of his own life and his own checkbook, so he’s obviously free to be a TnT backer rather than a program backer if he wants. I just hope Beth doesn’t feel held hostage in hiring/firing decisions by the fact that our biggest donor will only donate if we retain our current coaches because that would be a huge problem.

Gibberish. That is truly a special statement. Might be one of the most special things I have read on here. Congrats on that.
Thank U GIF

But really though, I can't find where my hatred of "Bob" is coming from. Can you? Maybe it never existed at all................😯😯😯😯

The real fans appreciate what you do. My only suggestion is to find a replacement for Morningstar & Telford

I think Bob's observations relative to Iowa vs PSU are spot on. Iowa and the Brands have done better than anyone else.

It's easy to fall into the trap, but IMO too much focus is on both PSU generically and last night. Cael is a unicorn, and I think it unwise to fire a winning coach because he hasn't beat a John Wooden or a Vince Lombardy recently. Yep, in a couple of decades Cael will be viewed through that lens.

There is no doubt the last 4 years in particular haven't been as kind to Iowa but everyone is still adjusting to the portal, NIL and >9.9 scholys.

I do think a much fairer barometer is comparing Iowa vs tOSU, OSU and soon VT. If Iowa spends more than a few years near the back of that list, then there is a problem.

I think it is reasonable for Iowa fans and the multi generational standard of excellence that has been set, to expect to compete for #2 every year, and when the stars align properly from recruiting and NIL, every 4 years or so you should make at least an outside run at a national championship.

Last year's result was concerning and this year isn't looking perfect. January is far too early to gauge who will be in the room next season. Is this a real trend or just a dip in talent due to the many competitive dynamics in play. More time is needed.

Counterpoint, Iowa by most accounts had a really solid NCAAs last year and still finished 4th. They finished 5th the year prior. More time is not going to help because it’s going to take a huge improvement from January to March to even sniff replicating those results.

One thing pretty much everyone agrees is 4th and 5th are unacceptable anyways. That’s how far things have fallen in that we are hoping for enough improvement to reach the last rung of the podium. It brings me no joy saying that, but in my opinion that is our reality.

Ok St is going to fly past Iowa by next season on the current trajectory with the recruiting classes they have. If Jax is in the lineup for next dual this season, I think Ok St wins.

Panic? Wow weird observation. People with money are usually proactive.

Someone once told me in organizational dynamics, sometimes things have to get “bad“ before they get better.

My opinion is that without Bob’s money, the number of team points Iowa scored at Nationals would be about half the number actually scored, for the last 3 years. Iowa would have finished well off the podium. It would have been “bad.”

But the difference is that Iowa would already have a new coach today, because Brands wouldn’t have been able to keep his job.

Hopefully Iowa hires someone to replace the coaches that Bob can endorse and support. A former Hawk would go a long way in my opinion.

It's an old longstanding joke on here. We say moran instead of moron, everyone that doesn't know the quirks of the board responds like you.
Then we pylon. 🤣
You will be lamb basted until you figure it out.
Btw, are you fan of Striebler from Ohio State?
Lots of want of bee posters try and get in the loop. We have to figure out their credentials.
I predict an 83% chance you will eventually get up to speed.
Just picking on you brother. You will figure it out.
Hint, if you see stupid 💩 like what I just wrote, don't try and correct it! 🤣😅🤣

Schwab is certainly worthy and ready. Not saying best choice(i believe DAKE) but hes worthy capable
He just doesn’t seem to move the needle. No one is going to be happy unless the next coach shakes the trees and expands donations to upgrade the RTC. Plus has to win the recruiting battles vs PSU and OSU. I just don’t think he’s more than a marginal upgrade and might not even be one.

Dake just seems like an oddball not a generational coach. I could be wrong.

my shortlist of head coaches interviews if the search was next year.

I’m sure he’s a great technician but the question is can he start grabbing the elite talent as a recruiter. Has he done any of that at Navy or Campbell? Maybe if you had a Rob Koll type as CEO innovating the program and focusing on donations plus RTC. Add Kolat as an associate head coach running the room.
