As many of you know, Brad is a friend of mine. He was an assistant coach here at UK, and was an up and comer in the coaching ranks. I personally, was hoping he would return one day once Minge left or got fired. Guess that is not happening now. I just cannot believe he would do anything illegal! Good coach, better person! Maybe being in that Bama environment got the best of him.

Never could understand why Bama has struggled so much in the last several years. Although I haven't seen the teams play lately, Alabama once had several JUCOs who played good baseball and produced high level talent that could've made recruiting a little easier. This whole scandal thing could be behind Bohannon's failure but he's something like 40 games below .500 in SEC games in his career. Program's had past success so they could do it again.

I'm curious to know more about this. I don't understand how this got flagged as suspicious and how it got tied to Bama. A big bet or two is put on LSU to win. How's that suspicious? They're the number 1 team in the country and Bama is, well, not. It'd be more suspicious if the bet was on Bama to win. Really doesn't make sense to me.

Seems like every year Bama is projected to break out. They get talent and the talking heads are excited about them and then they just never seem to live up to it.

Had some good years under Jim Wells in late '90s-early 2000s then fell on hard times. Hard to figure really, should be better than they've shown in the last decade.

I wondered about this too with the initially available information because betting on LSU wouldn’t have in itself been that suspicious. It’s now being reported though that he may have contacted the bettors and informed them that his top starting pitcher was going to be scratched from the game in question before that became public information. That’s obviously a major problem if true.

Yep. Sounds like that's what happened. Still makes no sense. Bama wasn't favored regardless. They were likely to lose regardless. So why dump money on it like that? Makes no sense. Maybe he has an addiction?

ESPN is reporting that the guy doing the betting was on video communicating with Bohannan while placing the bets.

I'm thinking the addiction angle too, maybe he spent to much time betting as opposed to building his team.

It got flagged because it was a huge bet when apparently not much money or any was being bet on the game except that bet. That got everyone’s attention. Unfortunately for him, he is finished in sports. Orchestrating a huge bet on the opposing team you are actually coaching against is as bad as it gets.

This is what gets me. How much of an idiot do you have to be to put a huge bet on a college BASEBALL game, which is more of a niche sport than football or basketball. It was bound to raise red flags when you throw a big bet on something few people are going to put action on.

Unfortunately, Bohannon may never work in baseball again. I don't think anyone, high school, college or pros are going to want to touch him with 10 foot pole. He may end up selling sporting goods or something like that, if he can land a job doing it.
