So I guess we're still not going to look into the cause of all these foot/leg injuries, are we? sigh... Don't tell me it's just a coincidence year after year. Hope Bolden rests up and gets better soon.

This is beyond scary stuff. Starting to wonder if we'll have enough players to field a team Friday.

This is getting a little out of hand at this point, does everybody agree? I mean, what are these guys doing in practice

Seriously could not believe my eyes when I saw this. Hopefully the injury will turn out not to be very serious like what happened with Tatum.

Emotions are high I get it. Tatum is back on Friday, players twist their ankles etc all the time playing hoops. Giles was injured before he stepped on campus and the recent scope was due to his first injury not the most recent- he will be back in a couple weeks. Some might not want to call it a coincidence but unfortunately that's all it is. Sucky one at that. And yes I know the history of our injuries.

Stinks because I wanted this team to dominate from day one! However I will still settle for dominating in March. Hopefully this isn't too serious. Scares me though that he has already been ruled out Fri and Sat.

If we miss Bolden and Giles for the Kansas game, how big of underdogs will we be? I'd say anywhere from 4-6 points.

I hope Bolden gets well soon! I'm dying to see my team at full strength but at the same time it's beyond frustrating to see these foot/leg injuries keep occurring.

So basically K lied as to why he sat out the last exhibition game
Go back to Rupp Rafters and play into all the conspiracy theories with your brethren. There isn't a rule that states that K needs to share anything and everything with you on how he handles his team.

Am I wrong in thinking this is an insignificant injury? If it was serious, would they wait to reevaluate over the weekend?

Usually because it's a stress injury and if there's inflammation you can't get a good picture to determine the presence of any fractures. He's in good hands at least.

@Jakarii technically he didn't lie. He was being rested and that's the truth. As @timo0402 said, they don't have to say why.

Who says K was lieing? He could have got hurt today?? Or was it stated otherwise somewhere besides Rupp or THR?

I'm wondering the same. If they're waiting until after the weekend to reevaluate his injury, hopefully that could be a sign that it could be not too serious of an injury.

ESPN reporting he could miss atleast the first two games of the season which would bring him back around Kansas.

Actually I don't know who he is a fan of. Lol! RR can't figure him out either. if I went over there and posted that I would be banned. Maybe he should be banned to if he can't come to this board and act as a guest should.

The low Nikes these guys wear can't help their cause. At least wear mids and have both ankles taped. At this rate, not sure we'll ever get to see this team at 100%.

I'm gonna be optimistic here and say that their holding him out for the first two games. We will win those two easily. Re-evaluate it early next week to see if it's good to go vs Kansas.

It's got to be something going on with the shoes. All I hear is the players are so much more powerful and faster. I'm calling bull crap. With the conditioning and the good shape athletes are in today injuries should be down and if the strong conditioning is causing the injuries why not tone it down. Look at Babe Ruth. Just look at him. I can't say I know his injury history but I don't think he missed any games because of hamstring pulls, broken feet, wrist injuries, bicep strains, chest strains or ruptured Achilles . Hangovers yes but body injuries no. Oh well I'm just one of those old farts who thought Converse All-Stars Chucks were the thing and to be honest with you I didn't own a pair until I was 18. They were too expensive. I wore Keds and even they were a little pricey at my house. Sorry got way off topic. Just don't understand all the lower body injuries in basketball with technology that is out there. I guess I need someone like doc steat for some expertise. OFC

No offense to baseball, but there's not a whole lot of movement going on during the course of a game. It's a fairly stationary sport. I suppose we could argue that there's a bit of wear and tear during a 150+ game season for a player, but I don't think it compares to basketball that requires constant running, shifting, and jumping.

But I, like many others, can't help but wonder if there's a legitimate correlation between Nike shoes and injuries.

I'm at a loss for words. We will be very vulnerable first half of this season. Giles hurt, Tatum hurt, Bolden hurt its almost like a scene out of a nightmare. Still, we are a solid team, players will heal, yes we'll be slow out of the gate, but I STILL think we are the ones to watch by conference play. Keep your heads up fellas, there is a LOT of good things happening in the coming weeks to help soothe the pain.

What are other teams wearing? And, why are Duke players wearing these if they are more likely to cause foot injuries?

I hate it for these guys, but if we can take anything out of it positive, it will give Chase a couple of games down low to grow and gain confidence early in the season. I still feel that Chase could be a big contributor to this Duke team down the stretch. If he plays with confidence, he certainly brings a ton of energy to the floor and that could bode well if Duke kind of hits that lull near the end of the year of fighting like hell thru the schedule they will be faced with.

I'm also optimistic. We may take some lumps, but will come out better for it. Also, when we win the NC, we can say we did it despite all of this. :)

I thought this crap was utterly ridiculous after the Tatum injury, now it is just plain crazy. Simply amazing.

This season is already feeling cursed. Throw the rankings and expectations out the window and get ready for a grind. As long as the personality of this team is 40 minutes of toughness and effort, we'll perform well. Grayson/Amile/Matt need to set the tone. We have plenty of horses in the stable. Let the men on the floor decide the outcome of games. Let's go Devils! Buck up, DI, we're going to be animals this year!

Feels like something the staff needs to publicly address. This will be used against us with recruiting, and our own players will have questions and concerns as well. This latest injury has me thinking there's something more than just bad luck going on.

You guys stop believing in ghosts. There's no secret ingredient that is causing injuries to our players. Our kids work hard and run 100% in practice and in games, its going to produce some injuries. We aren't the only school who has dealt with foot injuries. Don't get down on the team or coaching staff, that's just silly. Keep your damn head up, we have a great team, things will pan out.
