I have to admit I like several of Bon Jovi songs and would like to see him in concert (within reason). I know that opens me up for heaping piles of scorn but nevertheless that's the way I am.

So, his 2018 tour begins in Denver where I live. Just for fun, I looked at ticket prices. The lowest price I found, as far away from the stage in the upper arena as you can get and still be in the building, is $73/ticket. Two sections away from the stage in the upper arena goes for $150/ticket. In the lower arena in the very back, it's $270. On the floor it's $600-$5500 per ticket ($5500 is front row center).

I've been to plenty of concerts in my 54+ years. I make well above average income. Denver is a pretty expensive place to live. Who is buying all of these tickets? I'm to the point that I don't want to just be in the building for a concert or sporting event, I want to have a pretty good seat. And I know the guy has a ton of hits and fans, but take your significant other to the concert in the lower arena, park, eat at an above average restaurant, have a few beers at the concert. It's > $1000 for freakin' Bon Jovi! Guess I can rest easy knowing that, in my mind, there isn't a musical act playing today that I'd pay $1000 to see.

I realize ticket prices for entertainment have skyrocketed over the past 20 years. But this just seems ridiculous. I guess if there are enough idiots out there willing to pay these prices, God bless 'em. I went to see Reckless Kelly in the Old Boulder Theater and was standing 4 feet from the stage and the tickets cost me $27 apiece. Obviously, Bon Jovi is a much bigger draw but, for my money, there is no way he can put on a 10X better show. Have tickets for concerts passed the point of diminishing return, i.e. are there empty seats at these prices vs. having a sellout at 1/2 the price? Bon Jovi doesn't care but, if it were me, I'd rather play in front of a packed house vs. one that's only 70% full, especially at BJ's level where he doesn't need the money and is playing as much for the rush as anything else.

I just checked out tickets for the Foo Fighters in Nashville because I want to see the opening band, The Struts. Cheapest ticket I can get is $100 each. They're opening for Jimmy Eat World in Cincinnati the next night for $30. Nash is an hour away vs 4 hrs to Cincy.

Although he’s not that old, his voice isn’t as strong as it once was. This could be his last real tour, so he’s pulling out all stops and going out in a blaze of glory. You never know what type of,concerts have set the market price out there, so the tickets might be wanted. Dead or alive, if I had a chance to go, I would. At the end of the day, it’s my life and if a want to drop a cool G on tickets in order to have a nice day, I will. There are worse things to spend a lot of money on; booze, lotto tickets, and bad medicine when the good kind is legal out there. And if you have the money to spare and can just runaway down to the ticket office to spend that kind of coin, who says you can’t go home if you don’t like the show?

It’s like sporting events. As long as the morons keep spending their rent money and corporations buy suites to occasionally entertain clients while getting the write off, they’ll keep going up.

But the bubble will burst - like everything that’s hugely overpriced.

Bon Jovi is the only major act that has beat the scalpers. He did it with a novel idea of charging market rate for every seat. His shows don’t sell out, but they almost do and he makes every single penny of the money instead of some scalper with a ticket buying internet bot. I applaud him for being a sound marketer and capitalist. By the way this is by his design I read an interview with him in Fortune or something like that where he explained his pricing. He also throws in cool extras with the expensive seats like merch and signed stuff.

well, my wifey is an office manager for a broker. her boss has 105 seats for that venue and date listed on his site, from the cheapies all the way up to the 5,000+ range. he's making his fair share off this. don't believe everything you read my man.

You know I’m from New Jersey. When Jovi tours I’m drivin thru many a dry county and on roads that are slippery when wet to see a good show.

My wife gets pissed that I take off 5 weeks from work to follow the band... but hey, it’s my life! She thinks I’m livin in sin. The only thing I’m living is livin on a prayer that I can get tix and back stage passes at the Stone Pony.

Looks like their are good seats still available to me on Ticketmaster partner Altitude tickets for like $150 each in the bottom bowl of the arena. Good luck!!

it’s Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi was the **** back in the day. Sambora was a god. They were an all time great band that didn’t have a consistent bass player in the band. David Bryan made the keys look cool. I would (and did) pay to see that group.

Jon by himself with some session players? Pass.

Denver in the winter time weather can be brutal. Be careful out there OP, and pay attention to the road signs, especially the Slippery When Wet one. One false move and you could be Living On A Prayer. I'll Be There For You if you need any Bon Jovi info. Would have seen this thread earlier, but we had a Amber Alert here for a missing girl, turns out Shes a Little Runaway, she was not abducted. Think she was last seen driving on Tokyo Road. Bon Jovi will Always have a spot in the rotation for ole dad, banged a many girls in 80's jamming to his tunes. Its my Life, i will listen to what i want.

I have been to many, many concerts through out my 60 years. However I have a limit now as to what I will spend on a show. I prefer going to see lesser known bands that play in smaller venues. My niece took to me see U2 in Louisville last year for my birthday. I ask her how much she paid for the tickets and she would not tell me. I found out later from her husband that she dropped over $700 for them. It was a great show, but damn that is alot of loot to fork over for tickets. I gave her some nice Christmas presents to try and make it even. To show you how the prices have changed. In 1975 I saw, Kansas, ZZ Top and Peter Frampton on the same bill for $7.50. I saw the Stones in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas TX in 1981 and paid a whopping $5.00 for the ticket from some one standing outside, ZZ Top and the Fabulous Thurnderbirds opened for them. Bruce Springsteen in the Cotton Bowl in 1983 and face value was $15.00.

If Bon Jovi was playing in my backyard I would leave. I am however looking forward to The Pixies and Weezer at Riverbend this summer.
