Uh, maybe you need to take another look at UK's offensive line, and who we have coming back.

I was being kind to our visitor : ). I think the dynamic has changed for us with stoops recruiting and our Oline is thE best in my lifetime and one of best in SEC next year. Stallings and Young are legit NFL talents with others having a shot at the league as well. Crazy that we went from like 1993 to 2011 without an olinemen being drafted. But I agree that dynamic has changed

Ed Oliver is a different beast....we handled Christian Wilkens somewhat...Oliver did to us what he did to Oklahoma...hated that matchup with Hughley.

You still didn't talk about your defensive replacements. Who replaces those NFL players?

They are still recruiting OL...expect this will not be the final outcome...

I'm sure they are..better get some Dlinemen as well. Losing the way you did on Thursday and not being the media darling (for a portion of the media ) doesn't help you close the recruiting year with difference makers

Shortridge and GG Robinson @ NT, Young-(if healthy and completely recovered) with Fields, Caban with Kelsey and PJ Blue/Dee Smith with JHC. But remember we had to replace Rankins-(did a solid job with Bailey who is back) last year and had to replace 6 NFL players last year.

And it helps to have one of the best Cornerback in the Nation returning for his Jr year in Alexander. 3 out of 4 returning in the Secondary

Or it tells OL playing time...Right now according to Rivals it is a Top 25 Class for 2017....

Meh...you are replacing 4 guys who would have been drafted in top 3-4 rounds with 4 career backups or special team guys. Bailey played well and Alexander is legit. The rest are a huge step back

Yep...you are recruiting pretty decent. But you are top 25 becasue of 3 4 star skill guys. Your Oline and Dline recruiting has got to be worrisome. I'm sure you will pull a couple good guys to close but Thursdays beat down couldn't have helped with some highly sought recruits.

But now the goal...win next week and win either the Orange Bowl or Citrus Bowl and finish Strong in February...as of right now Offensive players like the opportunity to play with Jackson and OL/Defender see playing time for the likely 2017 ACC Favorites.

Good luck tonight and will be so glad to have Three Bowl teams from the Commonwealth

One of the most respected OL in the country with everybody coming back, but Toth and then some...just need a HC and OC to figure out how to get the ball in the end zone from the red zone...

No way is UL the ACC preseason favorite next year with the defense they have comin back. It will be the usual suspects behind clemson and fl. St

Wanna bet....They will be Preseason Top 10-12...Jackson is the reason and Clemson is losing it leaders on Offense and Defense to go with Gallman and Williams. For FSU, Cook is gone as is Walker and James.

Pike, you say this very year about the Louisville defense and since 2010 they finished Top 25 Nationally...it is a pattern now....lol

As long as thry have lamar they will be top 10-15 at the least. I cant stand UL but I am no dummy. There D will have to be really bad next year for them not to be a top 25 team..

Plus I don't think Pike realizes that Fields has been in and out most of the year. Jonathan Greenard done a hellva job-(FSU and NC State Game as examples) in his place. A player also to look at for is Gary McRae the former Georgia Signee that also Red Shirted this year at OLB.

. FSU ,UL, Clem, will be the top tier in ACC next year. Miami,Carolina,V TECH , maybe on that 2nd tier type teams. UL should be okay If they can win at FSU and Beat Clemson at Home they shoukd be in top 10 if they do not have any hiccups. You never know until you play the games as well. I think Kentucky will actually be a tuff game for them next year. We should have A QB and a deeper defense. Not getting my hopes up until I see what Kentucky looks like. Anyways with Lamar as their QB they will or should be top 15 . I wish UK could become a top 25 team but they got to start beating the UT, UGA, UF'S of the league before that ever happens.

You nailed it...our OOC Schedule is very soft, Purdue in Indy, Murray State and Kent State....got UNC on the road and you nailed the rest. Also, Next year is Kentucky breakout year...that game will be our 3rd Toughest on our schedule.

Ok...where to start.. sure, i'll bet you...UL will be second pick in,the ACC at best next year and most likely third., florida state was really young this past year with a new QB and was still picked ahead of UL. And you neglect to mention everyone UL I'd losing on both sides of the ball.

As far as what I have said about your D....I said this year's defense would not be as good as last years. And I stand by that. This discussion didn't take place before then.

Anyone with a pulse you've played has put up a ton of points. Not to say your D isn't good this year becasue it is..just not as good as last year's. And, here's the difference...you brought back 4 juniors who were all starters last year who would be in,the NFL this year. The guys you've said will be replacing them next year are 2 backups with hardly any productivity at DT, either a SO and RS freshman linebacker with no starts at MLB, safeties that didn't look good at all against Houston to replace harvey Clemons who is a versatile freak, and either Young who will be coming off a possible career ending injury or Grennard...who has had how many sacks this year??? 1 maybe.. to replace Fields..a 1st round draft choice. Every guy you named have very little production and are guys you'd be happy,to have as backups, hardly starters. So why does that day for your depth?
And my last bold prediction...I bet Grantham heads to the NFL while he's a hot commodity...

So Yes, I think your Defense will take a serious step back..

UL needs to start fixxing OOC schedule and hope Kentucky starts competing for EAST crown. That would be 1 more quality game to have on schedule. I am hoping we are atleast flirting with being ranked at some point 20-30. Like to see us in play off polls last few weeks of season around 20-25. If Kentucky would of beaten UGA AND TENN then UL had beaten Houston. The UK @UL game could of been really big for both programs. That is what I get for getting my hopes up for Kentucky football!

You had Louisville 3rd this year in the ACC Atlantic..we ended up 2nd and just might by the end of the day come in 1st. You said the same in 2015-(5-7/6-6 Prediction with losing 10 Total players to the NFL Draft)...finished strong last year by winning 8 out of 10....as far as the defense we hear it every year from you...2014...you lost Smith, Pryor and Preston Brown...Defense is going to suffer...it didnt...in 2015 you lost 6 defenders to the NFL Draft...it going to fall off...it didn't ....in 2016 you lost your stud DT and James Burgess...it going to fall off...it didn't ....wash, rinse, repeat...

Kentucky can win 5 SEC games next year and will have 6 winnable SEC Games....Missouri, Vandy, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida @ Home and Tennessee @ Home. Plus the 3 OOC Game-(you will repay USM back)

I would like to see that game mean something at end of year. Bigger Bowl bid, maybe CFB PLAYOFFS etc. More then just state bragging rights. Would like to get it where it is like how big the OSU VS MICH is or something along that lines. If you get my drift.

The only thing you are lacking at consistency in the pocket at QB...also need more athleticism in your Front Seven

All sounds great...bottom line is you do are losing NFL players and replacing them with guys who have barely started if at all. Not to mention you haven't recruited nearly as well on defense since Hurtt and Strong left four years ago. Next year is when it starts to catch up too

Agree completely with this on what we still need. I would add that Ole Miss will be winnable at home. Like that game better than a rapidly improving South Carolina away. Now if Shea Patterson continues to be a stud...all bets are off

Could be in top 12. You'll be behind Fl. ST. especially so after Houston lose. Jackson is so good he will carry that expectation. We'll just have to wait and see on the D and new players on offense.
One thing I don't doubt I'd your wide receivers and Jackson will continue to be very good

Well...you are going to have to also wait and see if Jimbo Fisher stays at FSU-(watch LSU) and they lose the heart beat of their offense and their All Time Leading Rusher in Dalvin Cook ....Clemson is losing 7 Starters on Offense including their entire skilled position and DeShaun Watson to go with 4 starters on defense including their heart and soul LB Ben Boulware. Plus we don't know if Brent Venerable will be back as DC-(very well could be a HC somewhere)

It goes both ways...not just who Louisville is losing...and in that regard it is less than it has been in recent years-(lost 4 starters on defense from 2015 to 2016 including a Top 1st Round NFL Pick) and two Assistant Coaches.

So do you reload next year and not miss a beat TPE? we've had that discussion before. You lose a ton on defense next year. Brown is an absolute difference maker at DT. As well as Kelsey. I think you saw a glimpse of your secondary without Harvey Clemons at Houston. Fields and Hearns are on a difference level from you backup DEnds..

UL has had a great run of putting guys in the pros lately and staying good to very good on defense. Does that happen next year?? Don't see it. And the Oline losses 2 off of that trainwreck

Better hope that they can find some transfers kicked off of various SEC or Big 12 teams or you're going to see a talent dropoff in future years (especially on Defense).

I think UL will win the Atlantic next year (though I hope I'm wrong). Clemson loses Deshaun Jackson. I doubt UL wins in Tallahassee as they rarely win big road games against good teams. Not sure who their crossover opponent is (they always play UVA, but Duke drops off to be replaced by someone else).

Our Crossover is UNC and they will be replacing their QB as well-(likely Top 10 NFL pick Mitch Trubisky) and probably RB Elijah Hood as well....for FSU pretty much how I see it...lose in Tallahassee plus they would want revenge for what happened this year. The OOC is @ Kentucky, Purdue in Indianapolis, Kent State and Murray State.

ACC Home Games...Clemson, Virginia, Syracuse, Boston College
ACC Away Games...UNC, FSU, Wake Forest, NC State

I actually agree with you (for once), but not for any substantive reasons. The reason why I think UL is top 10-12 preseason is b/c the media is stupid. They only know the "glamour" positions and the Lamar hype train will be off the charts going into 2017. UL may even be a chic top 5 pick going into the season based solely on Lamar returning for his final year (assuming he goes pro the following year).

QB is the position in Football....it covers up a lot of sins. Also the schedule is pretty favorable and even you said going into 2017 we are the likely favorite in the ACC Atlantic

Yes, I think you'll be the favorite b/c most of the media doesn't understand football (they look at only skill positions). With that said, I'll reserve judgment for now.

There are still a lot of unknowns at this point. FSU could lose Jimbo, who will replace him? How well will Clemson be able to adapt to life after Deshaun Watson? How early in the year will UL play both teams (I would argue that playing Clemson early would be a huge benefit if indeed it's a September game like it was last time the game was played in Louisville).

In short, the top of the ACC atlantic has been very good for several years now, but I'm not sure that will continue. Clemson and FSU both recruit at a high level (certainly much higher than UL), so it will be interesting to see how things play out.

No doubt the media will anoint UL as the favorite for 2017 based on Jackson's return.

No playoff, but that was gonna be a long shot anyway. Cards will get a nice bowl....gonna likely end up 9 wins ( UK realist here). PLUS having the best player in the game....that kid did everything he could, but luck ran out on the Cards when they hit an absolute buzzsaw.

Cant stand the coach, but he can sure put a good product on the field.
And likely will be back now.
I'm still glad he is not our coach! Can you imagine the embarrassment?
