My son recently took the ACT for the first time and he did pretty well, but reading was one of his weaker scores. So I am thinking about making him read a book this Summer instead of playing video games the whole time. Any recommendations on some books for his age? I know he is a fan of fantasy. He likes the LOTR/Hobbit movies and likes games like Skyrim. Anything in that genre for his age group?
Hit him with Harry Potter, every kid loves That. One of my favorites as well. LOTR is boring af and a hard read with Tolkiens imaginary language.

If he likes fantasy books I would suggest the "Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. The books are rather lengthy (most around 600-700 pages) but they are pretty easy to follow, along with enough action and suspense to keep him interested. The first book is "Wizards First Rule".
