Imagine what he would be with a half *** O-Line play.
I thought that was what half our posters were claiming he had already.
Well, maybe 75%.
I love boom, But for every big play there will be drive killing losses. Very high risk rewards. He looses 5-7 on first down that drive is pretty much shot. Big plays are nice, but running backwards and taking significant losses 5-8 plays a game that forces punt doesn't help.

^This. I agree he's a big-play back. Sometimes, I wish he'd just hit the hole and take what is there and let's move on to the next play. The dancing, stutter stepping, running sideways just doesn't work every play and sometimes (i.e., Vandy game where it happened at least twice) it results in a huge drive-killing loss (or fumble at the 3). We're obviously better with him in there but he's not Nick Chubb or Zeke Elliott or several others who are 20+ carry, every down backs IMO. He's good and he's having an overall good year. Just needs to pick his spots as to when to break it outside or cut back or look for the big play, IMO.
I'm fine with Boom running how he does. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see more stretch read option with Barker and Boom this weekend where Barker reads the play side DE (or OLB in their 3-4) and either keeps it or hands it to Boom on a sweep outside the tackle.
I hope you weren't bringing up Barry Sanders as some sort of negative comparison. For a running back, to have a comparison to Sanders is about the highest form of compliment imaginable.
I agree on Barry, he wasn't real big, wasn't real fast in a straight line, but could change directions and look like he never slowed down, one guy was lucky to touch him much less tackle him, best RB I ever saw play at making people trying to tackle him look silly.
I've been saying this all year. I'm not sure if it's attributable to the zone blocking scheme, inconsistent line play, or something else but it seems like in our running game we either have a hole so big you could drive a train through it or we lose three yards. In the end the average looks good but it's hard to sustain drives when you have as many negative plays as this offense produces.
Barry's one of those guys just to look up on YouTube every now and then. Easy to forget how nasty he was.
Seriously..it's crazy how much better our RB's look when they actually have a hole like the ones other SEC RB's are used to going through ..the few times that we have a small crease our backs usually take it at least 30-40 yards.
Nope, I wasn't implying Anything negative towards Sanders or Boom. Any back who can consistently break off long runs like that game in and game out is ok in my book. You have to take the good with the bad. This losses are more a product of his lack of protection. Sanders had his share of negative rushing plays but still managed to be one of the NFL all time leading rushers so he's ok in my book.
Boom runs at 7.2 yds/carry average......with 10 carries a game
Jojo runs 5.8 yds/carry average........with 8 carries a game.
Horton runs at 4.0 yds/carry averaged.....with 6 carries a game.
We average 34 pass attempts this yr.
And we have consistently struggled to pass the ball this yr. To me, this is sad. I understand that Dawson is an Air Raid OC and that they want to get the passing game going, but we have several RB's who run quite well, but we haven't leaned on them this yr.
For example, Vandy. We started a freshman QB in his first start. In this game Boom avg 8.8 yds/carry. Jojo 6.6 yds/carry. Barker 6.5. All 3 accounted for 25 carries. We threw the ball 34 times. It is very possible that had we run more and threw less that we would've won.
