I really don't understand wrestling recruiting well enough. I think it would make more sense if they scholarship offers were made public to see how the staff projects them.

Just a little curious on the recruiting game plan. I know we have a ton of kids to replace in 2018, but bringing in both Robinson and this kid the same year? One red shirts, the other wrestles? Do they project to different weights?

What do people think about this new kid talent-wise?

I don't know of any School(for the equivalency scholarship sports) that make scholarships public. First off, the wrestlers $$ change from year to year in a lot of cases. And a lot of kids do not get any $$ or a very small amount.

I think this is a good pick up, I think he could be a late bloomer. He did not place as a Frosh or Soph, but this year had a great tournament. The staff must see his upside and I trust their judgement.

Kid is a nice kid and was with his dad the other day at practice. He beat the heavy favorite from BC in Angelo. Tall young man.
Can''t have enough talented middle weights. I am sure they will space them apart.

Kid looks long and lean for his weight class. Sure he will bulk up by the time he gets here into the 149-165 range.

I know close to nothing about wrestling. Seems to me that projecting how a hs kid is going to grow as a college kid is really hard. Especially since many of them hit growth spurts when in college. I guess that's why they are coaching and i am typing on a phone here...

Anyway, welcome to RU young man!!

Thing to realize is how much money will be coming off the books after next year's senior heavy team graduates. Recruiting is on the uptick. Still a ways to go, but things are still going in the right direction despite the tough competition.

Glasgow, Robinson and perhaps Janzer are good recruits. The others are placeholders and hopefully are not getting much money until they prove it on the mat. A Sasso and a Glory would be statements and push us forward. There are a lot of top juniors available. Get one and the dominos could fall in our favor. Also, remember Janzer and Robinson are verbals.

We lose the follow wrestlers this year:
Theobold
Bakuckas
Pafumi
McCabe
Painton
Dippery (indicated transferring to wrestle at 141, in case anyone missed that)

We are going to lose the following wrestlers next year:
Ashnault
Lewis
Deluca
Delvecchio
Patrick
Gravina
Messner
Gross

You would think the 2018 class would be at least 5 kids and we have 3 currently committed.

Is Goodale looking at any JUCO or graduate transfers?

Anyone have further information regarding the class size?

Don't be so sure that Gravina is coming off. Staff believes he will get a 6th year. Originally I didn't think he would get it but now I think he will get it.
So you're saying that from the 13-14 season when he didn't wrestle at all?
2013-2014 injury year?
2014-2015 Assuming he didn't wrestle in enough 'qualifying' matches, so it could count as his RS year?

2014-15 Season - 7-4 / 4-3 Anthony Kubish (Centenary) W-F, 2:03 Steve Acevedo (Delaware Valley) W-TF, 16-1 Conner Bass (Stevens Institute of Tech.) W-MD, 11-1 Chandler Smith (Army) W-D, 6-5 82nd Annual Wilkes University Open (Second Place) Tom Grosso (Sacred Heart) W-MD, 8-0 John Messinger (NYU) W-MD, 8-0 Zach Heeter (West Virginia) W-D, 2-1 (TB-1) Garrett Peppelman (Virginia) L-D, 7-5 (SV) No. 7 Nick Moore (Iowa) L-MD, 16-4 No. 8 Jackson Morse (Illinois) L-MD, 10-2 Brandon Kingsley (Minnesota) L-D, 4-0

Benner came through with that throw but it was desperation move that caught Angelo. Angelo is the better wrestler and was up 6-2 with a dislocated jaw. Benners a tough kid & good wrestler but I would take Angelo 1st if given the choice.

Obrats is correct and the topic was discussed briefly at the SKWC meeting.
