at 2:14 Mike Williams and a defender are both about on the 40 yard line. The defender is on the far hash mark and catches him. Not saying he is not fast and I am excited to have him. #gbr

You realize there is a big difference between 40 times and top end speed right? Getting run down at the end of a 70 yard pass play doesn’t say anything about his 40 time

Have been told he might be somewhat Frantz Hardy or Curenski Gilleyan-esque...(sorry if i mis-spelled)...when he makes the catch likely big things will happen, getting the catch could be interesting at times.

At this point, we just need depth at the WR position. Can't be too picky.

We did just get a crystal ball for a high school WR, John Jackson, that I've never heard of. I also wonder if Frost will try to use someone like Mazour in the slot next year.

seems like a guy who will get much better if he sat out a year in [email protected] got caught a bunch from behind...not because he doesn't have great speed but he seems to fade on the bigger runs. He runs very smooth and looks "slow" but seems to run away from guys initially.

I haven't watched his hudl yet, but someone on RSS made this comment after watching it:

If this kid ran a 4.3 then there are all sorts of juco's on opposing teams running 4.1-4.2's. He isn't that fast. Looks like he could make an impact but reminds of Demornay the receiver, not Demornay the return man.

Must've been that footballfanitic2016 or whatever the hell his name is..

Sounds like some crap he would say..

Ameer and Rex got run down from behind quite a bit. They weren't true burners. You only need 10 yards for a first down. Hopefully this guy is a FOOTBALL PLAYER. That's what we really need.

Not to mention most guys will pull up when it becomes apparent that they are going to score. Watched his highlights and he outruns the angle on several plays. Plenty fast.

Did you read what I responded to? He said, "Here it is. Tell me the clip where he isn’t the fastest guy on the field." If a guy covers more ground than you more quickly than you he is faster than you. I didn't say anything about his 40 time. I like the player and am excited to get him, he is fast that is enough.

Almost every recruit says they run a 4.4 40. That's why they don't even bother listing 40-times for recruits anymore.

He'll be our #5 or 6 receiver. We're not expecting him to come in and be another JD Spielman. He's here to add depth to an offense that needs lots of receivers.

He's fast. Who knows exactly how fast, but he has plenty of speed. I am just glad it seems like Frost and company seem to know exactly what type guys they want to go after for their system. I am sure there will be more "higher rated" guys showing up next year when they have a full recruiting cycle.

This is why I am really excited, Frost and Co. really seem to understand where we are with our personnel. Plugging gaps and filling out numbers. I think this team will be a different animal next year and I cant wait.

That’s too funny. He was unrated earlier today. Must be the Frost effect.

Interesting. Fine work by rivals letting a great coach help them with their ratings. Actually, it might be nice that we finally have a coach that dictates recruiter ratings and gives them a bump when we offer them, sign them or show interest...

Rivals did not have him in their system until a few days ago and they still had to do some due diligence on him before giving him a star ranking.

When the coach (that sweeps coach of the year awards) wants him, then due diligence must be pretty much complete and get him at least 3 stars.

Damn, Currenski Gilleylen. There is a name I haven't heard in a while!

Hardy is the guy who most often comes to mind when I think of JC WRs. That probably isn't fair, as Mo Purify was really good for us. I hope Woodyard/Williams have the production of the latter.

That’s some coincidence. He commits to NU and hours later he’s rated. His tape is impressive, rating or not.

He doesn't look insanely fast, but he does run intelligent routes, can go up and catch the ball, and can make players miss in the open field. I think he'll be a starter here at some point.

How much of Hardy's issue was how he was used? From what I remember, it seemed like about 90% of the time he was in and it was a pass play he was just told to streak down the field and hope the QB could hit him in stride. Might have been a solid receiver if used differently. Same with Curenski Gilleylen for that matter.

What I want to see are receivers who are disciplined route runners, good blockers and have good hands. If they have speed and shake and bake, all the better. But to me it is more important on the college level for receivers to be good route runners and to have good hands. Pierson-El is a good example of a receiver who had speed but was very inconsistent in his route running and in his catching ability. Morgan got better as the year went on, but early on he had the dropsies too. In my mind, a receiver with suspect hands is like a great running back who has all of the power and moves and instincts, but who keeps fumbling. Not good.

Did Hardy drop a lot of balls? Especially when he was wide open?

supposedly this kid is very elusive with the ball in his hands, has good hands and is good at getting himself open. Johnny Rodgers could get run down from behind but he was virtually impossible to corral in the open field.

What we need is competition, a receiver who knows he will be benched for drops is going to have better habits in practice which leads to better habits in games. The challenge is to bring in enough guys who can play the moment they step on campus...the develop model is dangerous because it cuts down on competition, which leads to sloppy practice habits, and ultimately messy gameplay.

No idea, my memory isn't that good. I do remember him running a lot of deep routes, as you suggest.
