Posted a rambling dissertation of this on The Lair, but in a nutshell it really comes down to this....if SEC gets chosen for an Orange Bowl bid then Birmingham is almost certainly our destination. If not then Hello Shreveport.
Theres really no other options, as Belk will almost certainly take USC for geographical reasons and Liberty will chose between Ole MIss and Arkansas

Right now it appears the ACC Orange Bowl opponent will be from the B1G...the CFP Rankings come out tomorrow but just going by the AP & Coaches only 1 SEC Team is in the Top 15...the Sugar Bowl get the first dibs after Alabama goes to the CFP ...the B1G has 4 Teams in the Top 10.
tuck66, you are likely kidding, but you know, with the SEC contracts, there is no declining of bowls, now.
If I remember correctly, Missouri declined a bowl invitation last year. Not sure they were slotted for a SEC contract bowl however.
Weren't they a 5 win team that got invited because there wasn't enough bowl eligible teams?
But on the other hand, there was some interesting matchups for UK, I am sure the BC would be interesting, just like ours would be if it was against Miami.
Thought they declined because some students had made some 'politically incorrect' statements.:joy:
At this stage, I would play the NE Patriots or Austin Peay again - I just want the extra game and practices to build towards 2017
That's what I thought too, they had some problems along those lines on campus last year involving the football team and declined. At least, that's what I thought.
The value of a bowl this year is 15 extra December practices for a maturing team with 19 starters returning and a chance to win 7-8 games in 2017. It matters. I can't help laughing at some of our fans. Prior to the season, they were demanding a bowl. By October, they were demanding for Coach Stoops to be fired. Now we are going to a bowl, and people are suddenly getting picky. LOL!
Blue Decade, I thought about posting a smart arse reply . . . . but then I changed my mind. And I do that a lot, kinda' like my fan expectations during the season.
As to the bowls, I've been to Birmingham. Hmmmmm
I'd rather go to Shreveport. And I know it's no Nashvegas, but I was afraid the stadium might complete its own collapse in B'ham in 2010.

UK should NEVER turn down a bowl, even if it's the"Toilet Bowl," and isn't worth a ****!
