Everyone knows this is the first season 5-7 teams were invited to a bowl. So far San Jose St and Nebraska have won their bowls to finish 6-7. Minnesota plays on Monday.

In the history of bowl games, I believe, only one team that went to a bowl game ended with 8 losses. Who was that team?

Correct. UCLA finished the 2001 season 6-8, losing to Illinois in the Hunger Bowl. The only other team before this season to enter a bowl with a 6-7 record was Georgia Tech in 2012, but they ended up winning their bowl game to finish 7-7.
