Bozich knows dam well U of L has no chance with any of those top players for a variety of reasons. And Pervis is being a bit disingenuous he cut U of L off the day he left and never really showed his support of Denny 's program after . I truly hate our local media this school is constantly under the cross hairs of negative writing. You never see anything on that crooked *** school up the road.
Surely not Louisville . The only team that can pull that off is Kansas and we know the deal with them
It's just pile on UofL time he loves running them down. That and writing articles about IU nobody reads.
I thought the same thing; Milt, Kenny and Pervis have some sense of entitlement that is misdirected. Bozich and Forde continue to express their own anti-UL agenda through their increasingly small public forum.
Payne, Ellison and Wagner each provided UL Basketball with much success and enjoyment; personally I appreciate everything they did during their 3-4 year careers here in the Villa. I can add Jerry Eaves to that group, as one who expects UL, and/or this community to provide him with something more in the way of career advancement.
I guess a college education and a National stage to perform their skills is not sufficient to satisfy their expectations. I am glad that Pervis is recovering from his illness and I do wish him the very best in life.

There are a couple of things that come to my mind with this situation. One, what is/are Denny’s thoughts about his former players and their relationship with UofL. And, two, Dick Pitino had zero desire for former players to be involved during his tenure here. Is some of this a “hangover” from “dick’s” years here? All of this aside, I’m of the opinion that UofL owes nothing more to any of those guys other than gratitude and respect. The University owes no jobs or money to any of them. Maybe some free tickets but beyond that, nothing. Just my own opinion. Oh, and piss on Bozo and his continued criticisms of the University of Louisville.

And word is Mack has reached out to Pervis multiple times and Pervis has not responded . Not too mention Dj Wagner has done a zoom with the U of L. Bozich wrote a one sided sneaky attack on Mack plain and simple giving just one point of view. It's sad because Mack is a no win situation with this. If he blast Pervis a certain segment of the fanbase will be mad because of who Pervis is. However i'm at the point of screw those certain players that are always tearing down the program for no reason. Jerry and Butch are jumping for joy this morning.

If you’re a Louisville Cardinal fan and stand on the side of conservatism, I recommend not to subscribe or read the courier journal. It used to be enjoyable. Always looked forward to reading Saturday’s & Sunday’s sports section especially during football season. I canceled my subscription once, a few years later signed back up, after about 3 months canceled again and will never read any of the garbage they spew.
The CJ still exists? Lol I got rid of that rag at least 15 years ago and haven’t missed it once.
I’ve never in my life seen a university attacked from entitled pricks as UofL. It’s amazing. They create drama to be relevant. Former athletes and laid off media hacks. Good lord, is embarrassing.
I bitched, moaned and groaned for years about the disrespect towards UofL. Then came a Saturday morning, a FB game day and the front page of the so called Sports section was the story about BP son was gay. I finally went fricking nuts on them Monday (when I could actually get a human with a title before their name) on the phone. And yes, that would have been a time when I loved BP football. Good riddance CJ!
I literally grew up reading the Louisville Times (evening) and the CJ (morning) beginning in the 1950s and despite recognizing that it had a heavy Democratic OP, it was a highly respectable newspaper, that back in the day confined its editorials to just that one section of the paper. While I did not agree with a lot of the content, it was worthy of subscription. Once the Bingham’s sold to Gannett, its decline followed so many of the other print publication. I refused to subscribe then, or even look at it any more.
One phenomenon that stood out for me, was how the CJ would run a OP every year during the Spring Signing Period, about how UL should either drop football entirely, or go the Division II route. The timing was intentional and obvious, as it was a constant reminder to all Kentuckiana HS football recruits that UL’s future was always questionable.
Shameful initiative that came directly from longtime (40 years) UK Board Member and CJ Editor David Hawpe. An absolute idiot with huge influence in the decline of this paper.

Spot on 233! Hawpe was always the enemy of UofL but his own insecurity (both athletically and academically) about the University of Louisville belied his ability to be an honest and fair journalist. A very typical uahkay fan (and former uahkay board member), period. His very presence as a highly placed editorialist at the CJ belied the attempt of fairness of the Bingham family’s attitude toward the University of Louisville.

I think that's about when I got rid of them. I was still getting the Sunday paper up until around 2005-6 or so. I also haven't missed it at all.
Really, these sports columnists are not needed at all anymore. UofL boards and twitter provide all the information you need. The analysis and opinions that posters to this board provide are much higher quality than what you find on WDRB or in the CJ.
I listened to M Maybin’s show as well and he very clearly said that what Ellison is saying doesn’t line up. According to Maybin, Mack early on made it priority to connect with Crum-era players and did in a very open ended way (ie: “asking for their input on how to engage”). It’s also concerning that Bozich didn’t reach out to UofL before this article posted.
The biggest indication that this article is lazy and biased journalism is that he (Bozo) makes no mention whether he reached out to coach Mack or coach Crum regarding their thoughts on his conversation with Ellison. Obviously, Mack cannot comment on current recruits, but he certainly can comment on his thoughts in response to Ellison's.
If Mack or Crum were to challenge Bozich on his facts and/or his agenda, it would only result in Bozich responding with doubling-down on his criticism of UL. This is the problem with media today; they buy ink by the tank car and control much of the air waves; he is being paid a salary to spew his opinion on a daily basis. In truth, most will read the headlines of his story and leave with an inaccurate and negative opinion of UL‘s program.
Vitale is retweeting this hack piece article by Bozich SMH. Figures the negative pieces would happen right smack in the middle of when Mack is trying to lure one of the better transfers into the program. Thiis doesn't help whatsoever you know the coaching staff has enough negative to fight already.

And since when was Vitale a friend of UofL? I’ll tell you when - never. I take everything Vitale says with a very small grain of salt.

It's a shame and total embarrassment that the main school in this city that drives alot of economics here. Gets torm to shreads by the local media. Even if their are cells in Lex that have dirt and want to write negative pieces on UK .They are silenced and you cant tell me their is not some big story's to report . U of L has too many UK ties and under cover people their. And the local media is obvious pro UK.
Vitale slurps front runners like K, Izzo, Cal, Roy, and yeah Pitino. He's got a shrine for these guys. It's pretty pathetic he's just a fan boy with a microphone.

Another thing people like Vitale with this hit piece get to strike back at Mack. He was one of the vocal that came too Dino's defense along with other's. And if you noticed once Mack explained what he could about the situation and how it all played out from Dino's legal side. You did not hear one word from those that accused Mack of treating Dino wrong. And did Bozich, Eric or any of the local writers conscript n article explaining that it was not a Mack issue ? Not one!
