Just curious to know if there is anything interesting that stands out to you when it comes to the brackets? Any weird matchups or seedings? What about surprise playoff teams?

Two surprises for me are 4A Washington, which started 0-5, finished 3-7, and gets to host a playoff game, and 4A Nash Central, which started 0-6 and ended up winning their conference with an 4-6 overall record and is also hosting a game.

I think I have to finally admit that Reidsville is geographically in the eastern half of the state, but TW Andrews is slightly in the west, but constantly makes it to the eastern bracket.

Speaking of being on the wrong side, poor 1A East Columbus, a little over 40 miles from the beach, can't seem to stay out of the western bracket, while two teams from the same city of Wilson find themselves on opposite sides of the bracket: Sallie Howard is in the east, while defending eastern and state champ Wilson Prep is in the west. It's possible that both these Wilson schools will end up playing one another for the state championship. What a laugh that would be.
Interesting but Howard wont get anywhere near the championship game. Nash Central had a strong finish. I think they are a program on the rise. They should have beaten S Nash and Louisburg too and finished 6-4. That might have helped Warren County out a little. Lol. We scheduled up and still got punished in the RPI.

My thoughts are that the RPI system is better than the previous system we had but it could be better. I believe that games against higher classifications should be weighted. A bad large school is still probably better than the average small school. I'm not sure what the incentive is to schedule up in classifcation if you get punished for losing and no extra credit for winning. And game control and margin of victory should be factored in somehow. I believe Warren County deserved a 2 seed. But it is what it is. Just gotta prove it on the field now.

Idk about that I'd say Mitchell is slightly better than Cherokee but I do agree Robbinsville would probably win that game if played today they probably should have won the first time.
Mitchell and Cherokee are very similar, I’d give a slight edge to Cherokee with their skill kids. We were really banged up at Mitchell but I agree, still could’ve won.

Just curious. Edenton Holmes played up as well in each of its non-conference games and its only loss was a 1 point loss to Northeastern who is the number one seed in the East in 3A. Are you saying they didn’t deserve the 2 seed?

Playing up shouldn't be weighted for two reasons: Having a larger student body doesn't mean you have a better football team. And the other and more important reason is because if it was weighted, it wouldn't work. How? It'll only benefit the smaller schools. If a 2A school tried to schedule a 5A school, it'll only benefit the 2A school. No larger school would agree to schedule a smaller school. Margin of victory shouldn't matter either. The goal is to win the game. You only need to win by 1. They'll still give you the trophy if you win by one point. Besides, the institution of running clocks makes it impossible.

If you reward the smaller scholsl, do you penalize the biggest schools?

The eastern playoffs won’t start until Thanksgiving when Warren and Edenton play.

I don’t think there’s a team in the east that could stay within 28points of Tarboro, Holmes, and Warren. However I think the big 3 are all capable of winning the east and the state championship.

If you are a good team in the 2A East it really doesn't matter your seed as long as you are not the #4 seed which would in most year end up playing Tarboro. #2 and #3 seeds are going to play the only real difference is home field.

I will say that Nash Central had one of the toughest non conference schedules in the state, followed by one of the easiest conference schedules in the state. What is a 4A/3A/2A conference anyway lol. What does it prove when a 4A school wins it? Do the 2A schools even have a chance? It's weird lol. I'm not sure running through that means anything about Nash Central, other than they were one of the bigger schools.
