Good but I hate that we’re in the era of having announcements that a player isn’t transferring out
I think players who are not going to enter the portal should have to announce if they are staying before the final 2 weeks of the portal so that coaches better know what holes they need to fill.

Man, all I wanted was some continuity season to season when Pope came in, sorely missed it the last decade plus.

Looks like MP has been focusing on that from recruits to even transfer players with multiple years of eligibility.

I don't think nor expect Garrison to have some monster jump, but if he just continues to develop and refine, he'll be an incredibly important piece going forward.

Really looking forward to seeing what the team looks like early since we'll have multiple players that both know the system and what to expect at UK

Let’s get BG to work and make a big step this year. Excited for the team and feel like we are one guard away..

Moreno needs to bulk up and get ready for his Sophomore season. The SEC paint requires a player to prepare physically and mentally. I like his game and potential though.

If he is good enough, he will pull someone off rotation

If he is not good enough, he should be on the bench

Don't worry about moreno

Damn stoked by this. Loved BG’s energy this year and can’t wait to see him next year in Blue/white.

Good depth piece that has potential to become exceptional player. Pope loves how he can guard multiple players on the wing.

3pt shot will keep getting better. Needs to get stronger and rebound better. Love his motor, but needs to mature. Teams know they can bait him right now.

I never understood posters who thought it would be no big loss if he left.

With BG officially back, and Jelavic in the fold, we have 5 guys at 2 positions.

Using the template of this past season, where Pope used four guys (when healthy) at 2 spots:

Carr- 24 mpg
Williams- 23mpg
Garrison- 17mpg
Almonor- 14mpg

That’s 78 of the 80 minutes, so basically all the minutes at the 4 and 5.

Assuming Juniors Garrison and Dioubate and superstar Sophomore Quaintance (when healthy) are three of the four in the rotation, who do we think will be the fourth?

Is it our McD’s AA Freshman 7 foot Center or our Euro Freshman 7 foot stretch 4?

Or do they split the 14-16 minutes that’s left?

Just curious to see what everyone thinks?

Thoughts?

Hard to guess because I don't know what to expect from the international guy, and Quaintance may not be healthy for a bit. I love that we have options though! If we have to stash a McDonald's AA 7'0" center on the bench that is going to be good for us. I wonder if Dioubate may play some SF too. If so, that could give the other posts some more minutes.

Season start
Garrison - 26
Moreno - 8
Quaintance - 0
Dioubate - 24
Jelavic - 22

Conference play
Garrison - 24
Quaintance - 16
Dioubate - 24
Jelavic - 16
Moreno - 0

I’m not even sure how to process a player like BG returning. Something we haven’t seen in years. Refreshing and exciting!

Yeah, it's an odd feeling. I am glad we get to watch players develop again. Very glad to have Garrison back!

I think if Quaintance gets healthy enough to play, he plays way more than 16 minutes a game.

Also, I would go along with the idea of Dioubate playing the 3 if we weren’t already stacked there as well.

I think once Quaintance is back 100%, it looks something like this:

Quaintance- 22
Garrison- 22
Dioubate- 22
Jelavic- 14

PF Garrison(4)/Dioubate(22)/Jelavic(14)
C Quaintance(22)/Garrison(18)

I’m starting Garrison as a reward for his loyalty and for the intimation factor. BG and JQ out there together would give us a bigger and more athletic starting frontcourt than most teams.

And we have players that can also show the new ones the offense just like Jax did. Should help them pick up on it quicker.
Yes, much qucker. We have some good players returning...coaches on the floor and in practice. The learning curve just got a lot easier for all newcomers, due to having several, really good players that know the system. Pope said it a few times this year, that he was limited and had to keep things simple this year. Look out next year!

Mixed emotions glad to get Garrison but a little meh as I know this likely buries Moreno on bench
Not if he's better.
And if he's not next year, he may be in the future.
Pope has also proven that he's not going to just play 7.
I think he likes to run em all out there and let them show who can go.

Could be something like this if we don't add WIlkerson.

Assuming JQ isn’t ready to start the season, Moreno will get plenty of time to prove himself in the non conference.
I'll be truly surprised if JQ isn't physically near 100% by then. Maybe not 100% overall...but unless something is wrong, his knee should be fine in 9 months, conservatively. Based on my 3 knee surgeries, he could be in the gym tomorrow shooting FT's. That's a long way from ready to go but still good for him in short bits.

The frontcourt rotation will be decided in practice, for example, if moreno performs better than Garrison/big j, he has no reason to get 0 minutes

Put the best 4 in rotation
