“Working aggressively to fill the empty seats at our commonwealth campuses”

I guess closing and consolidating in response to changing demographics and to save money (overhead) isn’t a consideration.

”Lobbying the State for more funding”

Likely a wasted effort. Time spent trying to squeeze more money from PA is time not spent addressing bloat.

In any case, Brandon’s got this.

Brandon’s response attached
What a bizarre and poorly written response.

Considering the author, it’s not a huge surprise. He just doesn’t get it and probably never will. When challenged, I love how he decided to play the role of “victim” 🙄🙄

Brandon Short is a loser, despite the privileged career path that Joe set up for him.

Bottom line:

7 increases (6 for Wagman) - no "No" votes from either - nor any Abstentions from either noted in the minutes. The minutes do reflect their presence at each.
Most of the increases affected all (or nearly all) students at UP. Some only affected OOS and Grad students. Some effected UP more than CWC (and some were flat for CWC).
But they were all tuition increases. And Short/Wagman never voted against any of them.

If one doesn't want folks to point out their record - perhaps they should create a different record.

At least Short tried to address significant issues before our university. Last week, he ran a stupid post on LinkedIn shilling for votes. It showed him and other PSU student-athletes in 2000 with a second photo of current PSU student-athletes. The post amounted to, “We had student-athletes then, we have them now. Support them. Vote for me as trustee.” Vapid.

Surprised by his response. No budget increase in 2020. Covid shut down year lol. That is political spin and he should be proud. The tuition increases laid out from 22 and moving forward are ridiculous. Meanwhile psu admin keeps increasing.

Guess he didn't give his wife enough time.

I focused on his vaunted (yes, BobPSU92, it is vaunted) financial expertise. In 2020 PSU borrowed $1bn to prepay the cost of (future) retirement benefits. Could not come near PSU's calculation of a $37mm annual benefit (which has morphed to $50mm in Short's letter).

For some obscure reason, Short seems to overlook that PSU has not paid off any debt during his tenure on the Board. Existing debt has only been rolled-over and new debt taken on. Maybe he believes this practice is sustainable.

Oh wow, he pushed PSU to budget two-years out. That's will really help manage its financial woes.

And I'd really like to know more about his efforts to "monetize research."

I’m indifferent on Short, but that was pretty bad. I’ll be honest. I stopped reading about 60% of the way through because he was using lots of words, but not really saying anything.
