Yeah, I was pointing out that it's amusing to see someone make a statement like that when they didn't even have him rated.

What does it matter that he wasn’t yet rated in early June? He’s a stud and we are lucky our staff got him when they did.

give me a coaches eyeball evaluation every time over the "they" expert wannabees

And then “they” (247 in this case) saw him, evaluated him and gave their thoughts. I’m just not following his logic.

Just seems funny that they had no idea who the kid was 2 weeks ago but now are touting his super high ceiling. How do they miss a kid out of Texas who has that much potential? I believe he had an offer for nearly 2 weeks before he committed. They didn't even evaluate him when we offered.

One kid in a talent-rich state was “missed” in June? Ok.

Kids get overlooked, come to football late, finally get decent coaching, etc. There are any number of reasons for kids not to pop until their Sr. year. The coaches who find these kids have a leg up. Chinander found Hartzog after hearing over and over in MS that the kid was the real deal. Rhule and Co using speed and basic athleticism as a starting point is wise. And Cooper apparently watches recruiting videos for fun. A lot to like there.
