Brea’s ability to create

Throughout the season I have seen many folks here on RR saying Brea is nothing more than a spot-up shooter and that our opponents have figured out how to neutralize him. Well last night I saw him use dribbling and footwork to create space for two back-breaking three pointers late in the game, then watched him use a crossover to blow by his defender and toss a lob to Oweh to seal the game. All 3 of these were elite moves. Brea has a lot more in his bag, and with Jax out, I think he will continue to show it.

You’ve saw many people on rafters say that all year because that’s what he’s been all year lol. Last night he looked like he had a new found athleticism to him. And I’m not sure where it came from but I hoped he keeps it around for atleast 20 more games or so

He flashed it quite a bit in the non-conference actually. Had a bunch of driving dunks, some sick blocks, no-look passes, etc. then he kind of got away from it for a while. But dude can ball.

I wouldn’t say he flashed it quite a bit. Even when he drove it in the non conference he looked slow at it. But last night everything he did seemed like it was a step quicker and with a purpose.

In regards to his defense, Everyone has a role. Brea spent probably most of his entire life being such a great 3pt shooter and shot selector, that he wasn't asked to do the heavy lifting on the other end, nor was it what he focused his practice on.

Remember, even guys like Steph Curry and James Harden were defensive liabilities for much of their NBA careers. Prolific shooters generally aren't going to be lock down defenders

For sure better handle and create space to get shot off vs pure spot up

Also, he's the MVP of the game. Stepped up big, more than a spot up shooter. FIlled Robinson's absence, perfectly.

IMHO, he's just got to have the confidence. Sometimes when he drives, it looks like he's got an edge getting around his man, but he doesn't continue. If he just does one drive, then his man is going to back off him a little. If he's up in his grill, then drive and go strong to the basket. For some reason, he's just not that aggressive, driving or shooting.

He looked much better last night off the dribble and was huge down the stretch. With Brea and the KY boys it hurts much less to play without Robinson than it does without Butler. Trying to dunk the ball when he gets to the rim would help in my opinion. At least force the officials to call a foul.

The way college games are called you have to embrace the contact, if you try to avoid the contact you will never get a call.
