Just finished watching the series on Netflix. Gotta say best show I've watched. Great acting and writing. The character development was incredible. The show had enough twists to be stay fresh without being predictable.

I realize I'm late to the game, but needed to know other shows everyone would recommend that would come close. I've heard Sons of Anarchy is good. How is Better call Saul?

If you like BB that much it's a no brainier to watch Saul.

GOAT. and yea, you have to watch Better Call Saul now. after that, you will have seen the best and television will suck balls from here on out. might as well chuck the ole set out the window.

Sons of Anarchy was good not great. worth watching i suppose.

Better Call Saul should be your next watch...other great series (not in order):

The Sopranos
The Wire
Six Feet Under
Mad Men
Narcos
Game of Thrones
Homeland
Bloodline

This is a great age for TV...Breaking Bad was awesome, but I enjoyed all of the above. Great writing/acting in each.

Girlfriend and I watched Breaking Bad back in February and March. Hands down the best TV series I've ever seen. We just recently began Better Call Saul and it is very good as well.

Vince Gilligan (Creator, Producer, Head Writer for both series) is one very talented dude. I'll watch anything and everything he ever does in the future.

I too was late to the BB game and agree that it was awesome. Just started another series from about the same time frame, BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Also a pretty good series but you'll need amazon prime or HBOGO to watch it.

It was my favorite show until I watched game of thrones. Breaking bad was just good every single episode. That's the most impressive thing. Every series has clunker episodes but there really weren't any watching Breaking Bad.

Mr. Robot is a great show whose second season starts next month if you're looking for something that isn't a huge time investment.

I watch Breaking Bad reruns all the time, Better Call Saul is definitely worth the watch. It can be a bit slow at times, but the characters are developing well and weeds in BB characters. Dexter is another good one if you haven't seen it, Californication was funny, not on the dark side like Dexter or BB but had some strange twists. I've also just started watching The Last Ship on Hulu, it's a pretty good show.

Getting ready to start it myself. Tried once before but couldn't get it to it. My son convinced me to give it another shot. Said it gets really good after first few episodes.

If you're looking for a drama you can binge watch, here are my Top 3 suggestions- all at the same quality level of Breaking Bad, imo.

1. The Wire- best show of all-time; looks at the Baltimore drug scene in 5 different POV- drug dealers/police, docks, politicians, schools and press. I knocked it out in a month about 5 summers ago.

2. Friday Night Lights- perfectly captures high school sports in a small town; warm; well-written; round characters everywhere

3. Game of Thrones- medieval fantasy...which would never be my thing...but HBO pulls it off, if you thought Breaking Bad was riveting...

Breaking Bad is the GOAT. I really enjoyed Dexter, The Killing, and Better Call Saul as well. Nothing compares to Breaking Bad IMO. Rectify is pretty good too.

The Shield is worth a binge. It was FX's top drama prior to Sons of Anarchy and Justified. Many of the same actors appeared in two or more of the series. Walton Goggins was in all three.

Another vote for the Shield. I think it is a little better than Sons of Anarchy, which I also liked quite a bit.

I suggested the show to my mom a year or so ago and it took her forever to get past the first few episodes because like most shows, it starts out slow to establish the origin and the story. However, BB is incredible once you get through season 1 and they get better each season. Top notch stuff. The transformation of this weak man into this Heisenberg is easily the greatest TV has ever seen.

As for the show, BB will forever stand above the rest because they didn't drag it out like Sopranos where it was tired or just become shows that stay way too long like Sons of Anarchy or Dexter. They got out on top and told a great story.

Breaking Bad should've ended after the 4th season. Season 5 really wasn't necessary. The season 4 finale though, was awesome.

i agree the way season 4 ended was epic. but they needed season 5 to wrap up Walt and Hank's arc and they needed a final resolution to Walt's overall development. him ending as a unibomber type monster in the public's eyes without knowing what all he went through was great story writing. at the end of 4, he hadn't paid the piper so to speak, yet. like making a deal with the devil, the devil will come through with his promise, but he will take from you everything to get it. and that is what needed to happen to Walt. he got his ultimate wish, for his kids to be financially taken care of, but it cost him everything ultimately. everyone suffered and for many different reasons. just an excellent show. i could go on and on.

I agree with all the above. I probably should've put it differently. For me, the show peaked with the season 4 finale. Season 5 was still good, but the way 4 ended was perfection.

I just finished the first season of saul. Definitely a slow burn compared to BB. I think only 2 people died and they were nondescript and it was in a flashback. Can't wait til mike starts garroting people.

only shows ive seen that compare to how good BB was are the wire, boardwalk empire, game of thrones, and the first season of true detective (dont waste your time on season 2). homeland and bloodline are both really really good shows as well.

Don't waste your time with Sons of Anarchy. Gets pretty bad after season 1. Forces you to suspend your disbelief too frequently and too grossly.

Shield is a little repetitive but worth the wait with one of the best finales out there.

Six feet under is pretty quality.
