Nick Petrino may be able to go into Trinity and that is may, I am not for certain about that but I don't anticipate him having much recruiting success in this area. He probably needs to get out of this area and recruit.

Doubtful. Trinity has had a culture problem with pot (actually began drug screenings a couple of years back). I think that problem was in high gear when NP was there.

Plus, there are people at THS that know the real story behind the motorcycle accident.

Well, Rivals has redone those old recruiting pages which included "recruited by". It makes little difference since there was seldom a recruiters name tagged to a UofL recruit. IOW, hard to tell who recruited who at UofL. FWIW, in the wake of Thomas' departure, I did read a post that said Jackson was the only guy he pulled out of FL. If true, good for him. Peete? I don't know. Fitzpatrick is a MI kid and that hardly overlaps with FL as recruiting territory. Recent articles (not posts) say McGee was the guy who recovered Fitzpatrick. To be honest, I thought the name cachet of Thomas and Buckley would really open up FL but it did not. At least not like I thought it would.

I don't know what to think about the Powell situation other than something happened and as far as anybody knows whatever did happen was strictly within the basketball program. It seems very likely that if Powell was also involved any football improprieties that would be have been part of her book as well. Any "suggestion" that her activities extended beyond the basketball program is absolutely nothing but speculation.

The ONLY "inside information" I had on any UofL sports issue was that it was confided to me in November that Thomas would not be back in 2016. That info was from someone who was in a position to know that piece of info but was not a UofL official. He was simply passing some info on to a few select friends and did not want it bandied about at the time.

Peace

Did the source tell you that bob thought Nick would be a better recruiter in Florida than Thomas? They both have three years experience (per You) does that count with Florida ties and relationships? Lamar probably has about 25 years experience in the Miami area, what is that worth?Just asking.

saying that he wasn't your best recruiter isn't saying he's not a good recruiter. marrow is UK's obvious best recruiter but chad scott was a good recruiter in florida for us and ansley is a good recruiter in bama and georgia. sometimes guys strike out but they get in on kids that maybe other guys cant. with gran, hinshaw and thomas on board i would expect UK to pick up at least 3 guys more out of florida each year. recruiting is about relationships and i see thomas being able to relate to 18 yo south florida kids better than anyone on ul's staff... and maybe thomas wasn't as effective because the writing was on the wall that daddy was grooming son to take his spot so his heart just wasn't in it. who knows for sure? i do know bobby is still an unlikable guy and thomas didn't seem to broken up about leaving.

UL fans have tried mightily to downplay Thomas as a recruiter, in addition to NOW cry foul for his past mistakes and denigrate his coaching abilities. It has been comical and sad.
Regardless of who Thomas recruited, given his name cachet in the state, I think Card fans expected more from him in recruiting the state of FL. But I don't think he was to be let go because of recruiting. I had heard he was not happy with the time demands CBP placed on his assistants.

OK, last time on this subject and my "knowledge" of same. He said Thomas would not be back in 2016. The likely reason was apparently CBP's time demands on assistants although Petrino the younger was working with the WRs. Perhaps Thomas resented that (if it was anything more than "helping me" I know I would have) and he thought it time to move on. Regardless of reason, Thomas' departure opened the door for Petrino the younger to move to a full assistant. As light as it is, Thomas' resume [3 years as WR coach at Hampton, 2 (???) years at WKU] is a much stronger resume than young Petrino. And as I said before, Thomas has great name recognition in FL, the Miami area in particular.

How good of a WR coach was he? I can't really say. I saw more than a few games when we just could not get anyone open. Was that coaching or talent? Furthermore, the Cards have spent 2 seasons playing QB roulette; that does not help your WR play. By other accounts, the kids like him very much.

This is Monday morning QB passive agressive damage control. "Uh, regardless of who he recruited, we expected more. But, maybe he can do better at your school."

The Card fan reaction to Thomas taking the UK job has been classic "little brother." Every fan base has the goofs who get butt-hurt over every little thing, but this sad puppy four-year old reaction is pervasive in the Card population.

Did you know about 1999? That he never really coached at UL? That his ability to recruit was exaggerated because we like his mom and don't want her to be disappointed? That he did this to embarrass the Cards? That he tried to steal our recruits? His favorite movie is the Notebook and he likes Nickleback? He is a lazy man who does not want to work hard?

When you are an pathologically lying, ethically challenged sack of dung like Neck Brace Bobby, it's not like you're going to have people lining up wanting to work for you. You then have to start looking at family members, and the occasional mistress to fill positions.
