While sad for the team and this young man, I am glad that we are proactive enough to help a player make this decision before their life is adversely affected...
I was involved in a very interesting conversation, yesterday, on this topic, as regards OUr Baker Boy. Both my step-son and I agreed that a third concussion could become a deal-breaker, and a career ending one for #6. We also felt that the entire Sooner Nation would be supportive of whatever decision that Baker, his parents, coaches, and doctors made, and that his Health trumped any adverse effect on his team...

To read this about Tay Evans, today, after discussing that hypothetical possibility less than 24 hours ago, gives credibility to 'You Never Know'...

Injuries that end playing careers at all levels of football are now just part of the game like never before.
Football is becoming more and more dangerous with each passing year due to the increased size, speed, and an underlying intent to injury by too many players.

I've ALWAYS felt really good when players decide to leave the game behind for their well being. Nothing is worth chancing long term health issues. I know it is a difficult decision and I feel for them. All I can say is Thank You for your contributions. Boomer!

I had 3 concussions during my football and hockey days. I get some pretty sharp headachea at times. Back then you took 2 mins and go back out there. No evals...no real concerns. Players today are bigger faster stronger...so I believe in the need of evals and sound medical advice. Sometimes the dream has to end to avoid being completely out of motor and cognitive skills.

Absolutely the right decision. There's life after football and he has a bright one ahead of him. He's definitely one of my favorite to talk to. Great head on those shoulders.

Thanks for posting dearest SS.
