This Basketball season has been tough. Some flashes of optimism and new guys contributing, but a brutal schedule and some tough losses. I think next year we will have a breakout season, like the March Madness year. NU has a solid core with with experience, who have played early and learned how to fight through adversity. Real depth, different looks, athleticism like NU has never had. Watch 2022 for success

We were all pretty optimistic last year that we'd see progress this year. Unless we win 3 more, I'd say this season does not qualify as such.

Only reason I’d bring him back next year is because of the recruiting class. The incoming class is good enough to give him one final chance. Also I don‘t see a new AD letting him go after a Covid season

I said before the season that for me:
  1. Seven wins was a reasonable expectation
  2. Nine wins I'd get my foot off my mouth regarding CC's abilities
  3. Six wins would be disappointing but acceptable
  4. Less than six would make me switch my view of 21-22 or bust to we need a new coach now
I stand by that.

Are you referring to just B1G games or overall?

The team results are less than the sum of the parts or something like that. NU has a player at each position that has shown an ability to compete in a power conference. Maybe strength in attacking the basket is a weakness. Another year of conditioning and development and the close losses may become wins. Next year the team makes the tourney. Collins just needs to keep recruiting.
