Not surprising. It is on full display each and every Saturday that they walk on to the field. The culture is still a problem. No corners turned yet.
I think you've underscored the problem. Underclassmen who have been told they are wonderful. They come in and Frost let's them have their way and the get pissed and leave when they don't get it. You know MR's kids weren't all bad people and none leaders. Just saying.Culture problems still exist.
Have had them for 3 years under Frost. Very obvious on the offensive side of the ball. Defense doesn't seem to have similar issues.
Who's been here on that side of the ball all 3 of those years?
Gebbia
Spielman
Space Cowboy
Greg Bell
McCaffrey
Robinson
Who cares what that quitter thinks
The Spun: You mentioned culture problems. Is that something still lingering, or do you feel like Nebraska turned the corner this past season?
BJ: In my opinion, we didn’t turn any corners really. It was another frustrating season with things not clicking, and a lot of that started in the offseason. Older guys like me, Adrian and Matt tried to get those things right, but it just never clicked for some of those guys. As frustrating as it was, we had to go out there and continue practicing on Monday and get ready for a game each week. We did the best we could with the guys we had, but it just wasn’t enough
I don't have a problem with it. He's probably right. This is a rebuild and Frost has never done that before. The situation he walked into at UCF is different from Nebraska. He's definitely learning on the job. I hope he's taking the right courses.

Really? Matt the guy that usually got at least a penalty a game they guy that missed blocked and assignments, maybe BJ should take some responsibility himself instead of claiming him Matt and Adrian tried imo that’s not being a very good leaderThe Spun: You mentioned culture problems. Read between the lines. He is taking a shot at Frost.
I think you could say Frost has created the culture. When he made the decision to alienate the upperclassman and talk up his shiny new toys it was the start of the problem. When your shiny new toys come with lots of headaches , but you will continue to do everything to bend over for them and the rules it causes problems. As soon as he starts looking at the team as a whole instead of just his offense things might turn around.

Don’t take the bait. My life has been better the last few days just watching his feeble attempts to get a rise out of posters. Makes me chuckle. He is not, at all, in any way. But we all knew you would post this, regardless.
Just for the record, we had the best offensive showing of the 2020 season when we replaced Jaimes with a true freshman.
You're right about that. I think we put the best line out there that we could last 3 years, but the younger players are replacing some guys that are truly borderline D1 talent. as they come of age, we'll see better results. Great football teams live and die by the strength of their lines.Just for the record, we had the best offensive showing of the 2020 season when we replaced Jaimes with a true freshman.
As an old OL coach, I watched him closely for the past 4 years. He's a good player, but he's not at the level athletically of the OLs that Frost has brought in (Corcoran, Piper, Jurgens, Banks, Benhart). These 5 may be our starters in 2021 and honestly, there isn't a one of them who isn't a significant upgrade over what we had in 2018 (Jaimes, Foster, Farmer, Wilson, Farinok,).
We're obviously no where near having a scoring explosion, but if we can have a season where we're positive for turnovers, we can win 9-10 next year.
Ha ha. Saying the culture is bad is taking a shot at Frost. He is not, at all, in any way. But we all knew you would post this, regardless.

Frost always says we are turning a corner. He is saying we didn’t. I thought to be a fan of Frost as a coach you need to get on twitter and say how much you love playing for him?He never said it was bad he said “ we haven’t quite turned the corner yet.was frustrating season with things not clicking “
Learn how to comprehend, you have a hard time with comprehension I know..
For years now, we've had upperclassmen who really don't know what it is to win consistently. That may be TOs greatest legacy. There was a standard that was set in stone. We let it slip away. Now, to a large extent, it's every man for himself. It’s hard to interpret what he’s saying. I think he could easily be talking about only a few guys which isn’t necessarily some grand indictment, but just matter of fact. When you’re losing every year, the frustration and criticism and in-fighting builds.
He could be talking just about WR’s where they struggled to get anyone on the field who was ready to play. It could be calling out younger guys for not working as hard as the vets (talent aside, simply effort-wise).
It could be more generic laying blame on everyone including Adrian/Matt despite them “trying.”
In the end, it is Frost’s team.
2021 is an important year to turn things around.
This quote is an indictment on Frost’s first 3
Years regardless of what you think he meant. Because 3 Years in we clearly haven’t turned a corner. If 2021 we don’t turn the corner it’s time to find a new man to drive the car.
I can. He said they didn’t turn a corner. Culture isn’t good. It’s a very short article, take 2 minutes to actually read it.
I think there is some truth to this.. when Scott turned over the roster, there were not a lot of older guys to show the younger guys how things are done. This has been a problem for the development of a lot of guys that are now upperclassmen. In time, this would resolve itself, but who knows if Scott will be around that long. Can't keep the excuses going much longer.I think you could say Frost has created the culture. pretty much sums it up.Keep your head in the sand

Great post. God forbid somebody uses numbers to make his case. College football is so much about "Mo" and it is hard to keep momentum with drive-killing penalties and turnovers. Whether that gets fixed remains to be seen.Just for the record, we had the best offensive showing of the 2020 season when we replaced Jaimes with a true freshman.
Our opponents scored 29.38 ppg on 386.5 TYPG. We scored 23.13 ppg on 391.5 TYPG. If we could have just scored at the same proportion of yards to points as our opponents, we likely could have won Northwestern, Iowa, and Minnesota. We fumbled 22 times and lost 9 while our opponents fumbled 13 times and lost 2 (and it's not just the fumbles we lost, but also the 22 offensive plays that went bust because of fumbles). We also lost interceptions 9-5. So the total turnovers was a minus 11, in 8 games. That's minus 1.38 per game, imagine if it was a positive 1.38, essentially adding 2.75 margin to our side. It's the difference between winning and losing. Tack on 15 more penalty yards per game than our opponents and you can see why we ended up like we did.
Turnovers and penalties don't tell the whole story, but they probably were the difference in being 3-5 rather than 5-3 or 6-2. These are thing that COACHING can solve. The overall talent level of the team is increasing, if we can get a handle on turnovers and penalties, we can be a winner, especially with all of the experience coming back on defense.
For reference - in 1995 we won interceptions 20-6 (with 60% of the attempt of our opponents) and lost fumbles 9-8 (with twice as many running plays as our opponents). Plus 13.
When a coach takes over a struggling program it is up to the coach and his staff to show EVERYONE how it is done. I truly believe Jaimes and Adrian and a few others bought it. Add Kade to the list. But then I think he means guys like Fleming, Delancy, Gray, Francois, and others who didn’t transfer as guys that aren’t wanting to put the work in. So these guys who Frost says are going to change the program don’t really want to work as a contributing player it gets hard and you say things in public about the culture.I think there is some truth to this.. when Scott turned over the roster, there were not a lot of older guys to show the younger guys how things are done. This has been a problem for the development of a lot of guys that are now upperclassmen. In time, this would resolve itself, but who knows if Scott will be around that long. Nah. I couldn’t leave your head.Remember about 100 posts ago when he said he was leaving the board forever?
Frost Derangement Syndrome: A recently discovered mental disorder that causes sufferers to constantly pin blame on Nebraska's football coach for any and all perceived or implied problems with Nebraska football. So you wanted some of the losers that quit showing the younger guys "how it's done"? Veteran leadership was a problem but it isn't Frost's fault that the ice cream with sprinkles guys quit. There was an extreme lack of talent in some of those guys that stayed and the ones who left haven't done much. We will have veteran leaders going forward and many of them will likely be local guys. That matters.I think there is some truth to this.. when Scott turned over the roster, there were not a lot of older guys to show the younger guys how things are done.
